Simhastha Kumbh Mela: Nod for three new bridges, other works
Nashik: The general body of
(NMC) has given nod for construction of three new bridges on Godavari river and its has also approved strengthening of existing Gadge Maharaj bridge, along with construction of a down ramp at a total cost of Rs 93 new bridges have been proposed in view of the upcoming Kumbh Mela slated to be held in 2026-28.

NMC has already proposed two new bridges near Ramwadi and Laxmi Narayan Temple on Godavari river in the budget for the current financial a recent Kumbh Mela-related meeting, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis told NMC administration to undertake these projects immediately, which will need around two years to be completed. Accordingly, the NMC administration started the project to boost the construction of new bridges on Godavari and its tributaries in the city to ease traffic congestion during the upcoming Kumbh Mela.A new bridge would be constructed on Godavari river near the sewage treatment plant (STP) of NMC at Tapovan at a cost of Rs 35 crore. Another would be constructed on Nandini river near Milindnagar in Nashik West division of the civic body at a cost of Rs 19 crore. The third bridge would be constructed on Waldevi river near Wadner Dumala on Nashik Road division of the city at a cost of Rs 11 general body of NMC also gave its approval for strengthening and widening of the existing Gadge Maharaj bridge near Ramkund on Godavari river at a cost of Rs11.35 crore. Apart from this, a down ramp would be constructed for Gadge Maharaj bridge to be used by sadhus during the Kumbh administrator Manisha Khatri gave approval to all the proposals related to new bridges and related works during the GB meeting held on Wednesday.
