NMC approves Rs8.79cr for city's first adventure park

Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has given the nod for an Adventure Park at Lata Mangeshkar Garden, located in Surya Nagar. With an estimated investment of Rs8.79 crore, this is a first-of-its-kind project undertaken by the civic body in a garden owned by it. Of the total Rs8.79 crore budget, Rs4.58 crore is allocated for civil and landscaping work, including pathways, fencing, lawns, decorative plantations, and utility infrastructure such as ticket counters, smart toilets, and office rooms. Rs4.20 crore will be spent on setting up adventure-specific equipment. The project is fast-tracked and will soon move into the tendering phase, officials confirmed. The site for the project previously housed an auditorium, now demolished. The freed up 2 acres have been earmarked specifically for children's play activities while the rest of the space will feature a wide array of adrenaline-pumping adventure activities. Municipal commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari directed the creation of 15 thrilling adventure activities in the park. NMC officials held interactions with agencies in the field of adventure sports before drafting a comprehensive proposal. From high-flying ziplines to balance-testing rope courses and gravity-defying trampolines, the park promises a unique blend of fun in a green, well-maintained environment. This initiative is being hailed as a game-changer for Nagpur's entertainment and urban beautification efforts.
