In the petition filed on Monday, the woman, Jayalakshmi, said her husband, Gunasekaran, had travelled to west Africa for work through a private export firm based in Perundurai, Erode. He passed away there in Nov 2017. While she received confirmation of his death and a death certificate, only a partial payment of Rs5.98 lakh, representing salary arrears, was sent to her, she said.
She alleged that the insurance compensation and death benefits amounting to Rs7.50 lakh were fraudulently claimed by Thangamani from Kothamangalam and Manikandan from Mangudi. The duo, she said, took another woman and children to the company, falsely presenting them as Gunasekaran's family, and collected the insurance money in their name.
