Organised by Vishwajit Rane, the Deputy Chief Minister of the state, the event was attended by nearly 15,000 people who witnessed Rishab's live performance as he successfully elevated the spiritual atmosphere of the event with the magic of traditional Indian music.
The musician received a grand welcome adorned with floral garlands. His entrance was accompanied by the chants of chenda melam, a traditional musical instrument, and the presence of elephants, adding a regal touch to the event. Rishab, who is widely popular for his fusion of traditional Indian music with modern Bollywood or urban beats, impressed the sea of people, leaving them captivated by his music. The audiences at the event, devoid of their age, were visibly moved by his soulful performance.
Born in the renowned Rikhi Ram family of luthiers from Delhi, Rishab was first introduced to the sitar at the age of ten by his father, Sanjay Rikhiram Sharma, who was also his first guru. He performed on the stage for the first time at a very young age in 2011, when his performance caught the attention of Pandit Ravi Shankar. Later, he took Rishab as his youngest and last disciple, and under his guidance, Rishab started to hone his talent and became the youngest sitar virtuoso. Recently, he went on his Sitar for Mental Health India Tour and performed across different cities in India, showcasing the power of ancient raga, neoclassical music, and a blend of traditional and modern musical sensibilities. His vision with the tour is helping people understand the importance of music in one's mental health and finding a sense of mental peace with the help of music.
Due to the recent Pahalgam attack, Rishab stood by the nation and cancelled a few shows, including Bengaluru, Indore, Kolkata, and Surat, to stand in solidarity with the country and its soldiers.
