Intervention by the Indian embassy, Kenyan and Qatari expatriate associations, and Norka Roots facilitated the repatriation of the bodies. A last-minute crisis arose due to the requirement of a yellow fever certificate for the return of the bodies. However, the Union govt waived the requirement, considering the special circumstances, following chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan's intervention.
