Oral Roberts women run past Roos, set to play SDSU in Championship
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Oral Roberts women shot nearly 50% Saturday afternoon, to claim a 95-73 win over Kansas City and advance to the Summit League Championship.
The Golden Eagles will now play SDSU in the title game on Sunday, March 9 at 3 p.m. The winner will claim the Summit League's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
Oral Roberts trailed just once in the game and that's when the Roos scored the first two points of the game. The game was tied just twice as the Golden Eagles pulled ahead and stayed ahead for the remaining 35:48 of the game.
The lead remained around the 13 point mark until a late run for Oral Roberts. The Golden Eagles mustered a nine point run late in the fourth quarter, to push the lead to its largest at 22.
The ORU defense was also impressive, forcing 19 turnovers and scoring 24 points off of those turnovers.
STATS
Oral Roberts shot 47% from the field and 26% from three in the win.
Five players scored in double figures, led by Ruthie Udoumoh's game high 20 points. Emily Robinson added 19, Taleyah Hones posted 18 and Makrya Tramble scored 13.
Kansas City was led by Alayna Contreras who scored 20 points.
