#SHOWBIZ: 'La La Land' comes alive

THE magic of Damien Chazelle's 'La La Land' came alive at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) recently. The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) delivered a dazzling live-to-film performance that transported the audience straight into the heart of Los Angeles' dreamy, jazz-soaked landscape from the 2016 movie. Concertgoers revisited the Academy Award-winning film, starring Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and John Legend, in a swoonworthy live-to-film concert experience. The movie showcases the captivating story of Seb, a promising pianist, and Mia, an aspiring actress, who cross paths and fall in love while attempting to harmonise their career journeys in the city of stars. The concert featured a full orchestra and jazz band performing the soundtrack alongside the screening of the movie. This allowed attendees to experience the vivid musical moments central to the film, including the unbelievable piano solos, all played live by the MPO. A stellar performance Gerard Salonga conducted the orchestra, which breathed new life into Justin Hurwitz's Oscar-winning score. From the exhilarating opening number, 'Another Day of Sun', to the poignant finale, the MPO displayed both technical precision and emotional depth. The seamless synchronisation between the live performance and the on-screen visuals was a feat in itself, allowing the film's story to unfold naturally while adding a richer, more immersive musical experience. Particularly captivating was the performance of 'Mia & Sebastian's Theme,' with the piano melodies soaring above the strings, evoking the tender romance and heartbreak at the film's core. The jazz sequences, especially those featuring 'Herman's Habit' and 'Start A Fire', were performed with vibrant energy, bringing the spirit of classic Hollywood and contemporary jazz into perfect harmony. An extraordinary afternoon Visually, watching 'La La Land' on the big screen at the concert hall setting was a treat, but it was the MPO's passionate performance that elevated the afternoon into something simply extraordinary. The audience responded with thunderous applause, a testament to the enduring power of great music and storytelling. For fans of the film, jazz enthusiasts, or anyone who appreciates the magic of live music, 'La La Land in Concert' with the MPO was a breathtaking reminder of cinema's ability to move, uplift and inspire. MPO's cinematic season This recent concert was part of the MPO's Season 2025 run, which includes more cinematic treats for movie lovers. In January, the MPO presented 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Concert'. Film and music fans can also look forward to catching a classic Hollywood gangster movie during 'The Godfather Live' concert on June shows provide the audience a unique opportunity to relive the magic of movies on the big screen while the symphonic orchestra brings the iconic scores to life. While orchestral music has long been associated with the upper echelons of society, collaborations with blockbuster films like these can be seen as an interesting method to bring orchestral music to a much wider audience. Judging from the packed hall on the day I attended the show, with a rather mixed crowd of young and not-so-young people, I'd say it was quite a success for both the MPO and DFP in bringing the masses to enjoy live orchestral music.

Ryan Gosling Reportedly Eyed to Play Ghost Rider in Marvel's AVENGERS

Could Ryan Gosling be taking on the role of the Spirit of Vengeance in the MCU? According to a new rumor, Marvel Studios may be looking at casting the Barbie and The Fall Guy star in the role of Ghost Rider in Avengers: Doomsday . While nothing has been confirmed by Marvel, the report has MCU fans revving their engines. The report comes from scooper @MyTimeToShineHello on X, claiming Marvel wants Gosling to suit up as the iconic flame-headed antihero. Industry insider Jeff Sneider previously said: 'I am hearing Ghost Rider is going to be in Doomsday.' He added, 'This is a search,' clarifying that Nicolas Cage, who played Johnny Blaze in the early 2000s films, is not part of the plan. Sneider didn't confirm which version of Ghost Rider might show up in the film, but he did acknowledge that Johnny Blaze is the most recognizable incarnation. His co-host John Rocha chimed in with a reminder that the Marvel Universe has multiple Ghost Riders, including Danny Ketch, Alejandra Jones, and Robbie Reyes, who was portrayed by Gabriel Luna in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Even Sam Elliott took a crack at it, playing Carter Slade in the 2007 Ghost Rider movie. Gosling himself has previously voiced interest in the role. While promoting The Fall Guy , he said, 'I told Josh I would like to play Ghost Rider.' That 'Josh' was likely Josh Horowitz, host of MTV's Happy Sad Confused podcast, where the quote originated. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige also weighed in at the time, saying, 'Ryan is amazing. I'd love to find a place for him in the MCU' (via Variety). Gosling added, 'I would love to, it would be amazing.' Of course, there's the matter of scheduling. Gosling is also reportedly set to star in Star Wars: Starfighter , which could complicate things. But with Avengers: Doomsday now pushed to December 18, 2026, there's a solid window for Marvel to make this happen, especially if they want him to stick around for Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. The timing also lines up with rumors of a Midnight Sons project, which would potentially team up Ghost Rider with Blade and Moon Knight in a darker corner of the MCU. This lineup could finally bring the supernatural squad to life on the big screen. What do you think about the possibility of seeing Gosling in the role of Ghost Rider?

GTA 6 fans are convinced Liberty City is making a return

Source: Rockstar Games The GTA 6 rumor mill is buzzing, and one of the most convincing theories centers on the possible return of Liberty City. Fans have pointed out several instances of the classic city being referenced in trailers and screenshots, so many that they figure it's likely more than an Easter egg. As a mission hub or eventual DLC, Liberty City might return in a big way. Why fans believe Liberty City is more than merely a background nod Hints scattered throughout GTA 6's second trailer have fans believing Liberty City is going to play a part in the next game. A Liberty City license plate, a Liberty City Cycles hat, and the implication that Lucia might have origins in the northern city have all sparked massive debate. One fan wrote 'There is a good chance that it is included in the game, and even if we are not able to fully explore it, I'm pretty sure we will visit Liberty City at some point in the game for a mission. It doesn't make sense for Rockstar to mention it and not have us visit it once in the game.' The theory isn't solely about a one-off visit, either. Many thinks Liberty City might have a bigger role to play, maybe in a mission-based segment or even as an interconnected city via Rockstar's changing world-building. The future of Liberty City: Missions, expansions, or something more? Rockstar has a tradition of revisiting previous cities through either missions or expansions. In GTA: San Andreas, for example, players had a brief visit to Liberty City for one mission. The same mechanic in GTA 6 isn't impossible. One fan guessed, "I think we will see a return to Liberty City. Whether it will be a full blown, visit anytime situation or just a few missions is to be revealed later." Some also think that even more cities may be coming in the future: "Just to make the world feel more real as irl you have people from multiple cities/states everywhere. I do however believe both Liberty State and San Andreas will be added onto the map later on." Though Rockstar hasn't officially announced anything, the indications, and the fan base, argue for Liberty City's return quite compellingly. Whether it's a cameo appearance or a complete addition, the legendary city appears to be set to play some part in the ongoing GTA universe once again. Fans want a Ryan Gosling mod in GTA 6 and it's only a matter of time

The similarity between GTA 6's Jason and actor Ryan Gosling has created a tidal wave of online chatter. From Reddit forums to TikTok edits, people are certain that Jason's appearance and personality reflect Gosling's signature movie performances. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now With modders famous for reimagining characters in Rockstar games, many assume a Ryan Gosling-themed mod is not only imminent, it's simply waiting for the PC release of the game. The resemblance is too strong for fans to ignore Source: Rockstar Games Ever since the second trailer for GTA 6 came out, fans have been obsessed with Jason's look, his reserved intensity, small facial expressions, and effortless style have drawn sharp comparisons with Ryan Gosling's roles. Social media has been filled with side-by-side images, memes, and fan edits, all pointing to the uncanny resemblance. Even Jason's clothing and quiet demeanor exude a decidedly "Gosling vibe," which fans have affectionately run with. In addition, this isn't mere surface-level banter. Content creators have scrutinized scene framing, animation style, and character posture to contend that Rockstar might have drawn stylistic inspiration from Gosling's body of work. Although Rockstar has issued no statement acknowledging any such influence, the similarity has turned into a meme, and, full-on fan movement, now. A mod appears to be a foregone conclusion when GTA 6 releases on PC Considering the history of the games and how strongly dedicated their modding community is, it's not long before Jason's character model is remade to resemble Ryan Gosling even more closely or swapped out entirely for his likeness. Modders have already achieved this with movie, TV, and real-life character mods in GTA V. When GTA 6 hits the PC (most probably after its initial console release), fans anticipate a similar modding wave to take off soon. Mods are not mere novelty fun, they are how the community gets more immersed in the game, recasts characters, and gives tribute to pop culture heroes. If enthusiasm keeps building, a Ryan Gosling mod could be among the first big efforts when the modding tools get released. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Whether accidental or not, Jason's resemblance to Ryan Gosling has turned into a signature fan debate surrounding GTA 6. And with the game coming out in merely a year's time, modders are already queueing up concepts. Once the tools are available, be ready for the Gosling-version of Jason to drop, because as fans, it's no longer a matter of "if," but "when." Also Read:

The Russo Brothers Reportedly Casting New Ghost Rider for AVENGERS

It was recently reported that Marvel Studios has pushed back the release dates for both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars . The delay stings for fans, but there's a silver lining with more time for Joe and Anthony Russo to craft a great film, with the kind of colossal chaos they pulled off with Infinity War and Endgame . And as it turns out, they might be using that time to bring some literal hellfire into the MCU. On a recent episode of The Hot Mic podcast, insider Jeff Sneider dropped a flame-worthy tidbit: "I have heard this week that Marvel is casting the role of Ghost Rider. That's for Doomsday. I'm hearing that Ghost Rider is going to be in Doomsday." If this is true, I love that Ghost Rider is being summoned for the Avengers' next big story. But Sneider clarified this won't be a nostalgic revival. He said that this is the MCU's Ghost Rider, not the return of Nicolas Cage as the Johnny Blaze. It's worth noting that Ghost Rider has been circling Marvel's theatrical plans for a while. Rumors once suggested he'd appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day , which was originally set to debut between Doomsday and Secret Wars . Casting speculation is also in full swing, with Ryan Gosling. Back in 2023, during press for The Fall Guy , Horowitz asked Gosling if he'd be interested in donning the flaming skull. The actor responded: 'This was a magical moment. I told Josh I would like to play Ghost Rider. He found Kevin Feige, corners him, does an interview with him. When he says, 'I would like this,' all the lights go off.' When pressed again, Gosling said: 'I don't know.' To co-star Emily Blunt, who doubted he'd go full superhero, Gosling said: 'I would love to, it would be amazing. Come be in Ghost Rider.' At this point, there's no official word on who the Russos are looking at casting, but I imagine they are looking to go big. Whether it's Gosling or someone else, the inclusion of Ghost Rider in the film is going to be cool and If it's true, I'm curious to see how they utilize him in the story.
