'Bin fire' prompts evacuation of The Royal Hotel in Hull
A city centre hotel was evacuated following a fire in a third-floor room, fire chiefs were called to The Royal Hotel, next to Hull's railway station, at about 18:00 BST on to BBC Look North at the scene, station manager Ryan Murawa said details were "sketchy" but added "it would appear the fire might have started in a bin".There were no reports of any injuries, said Mr Murawa, adding an investigation would seek to establish the cause.
It has previously been reported widely that The Royal Hotel is used to house asylum seekers. Mr Murawa said the evacuation had gone "very well", describing it as "well organised".
