Florida baseball vs USF: Gators fall flat in home loss to Bulls
Florida baseball had its four-game win streak snapped with a 7-1 loss to USF on Tuesday night at Condron Family Ballpark.
The Florida Gators (33-17, 11-13 SEC) struggled to generate offense in their final non-conference game, scoring their lone run when third baseman Brendan Lawson came home from third on a throwing error in the fourth inning. After pounding out 39 runs over the weekend at South Carolina, the Gators mustered just three hits.

USF (25-21) broke a 1-1 tie by scoring four runs in the top of the sixth off UF relievers Alex Philpott and Luke McNeillie. Left fielder Marcus Brodil put USF ahead to stay, belting an RBI double off Philpott to put the Bulls ahead 2-1. From there, USF tacked on three more runs as Jackson Mayo, Carlos Jacome and Sebastian Greico belted RBI singles off McNeillie, extending USF's lead to 5-1.
Ryan Pruitt then added a two-RBI single in the eighth inning to put the Bulls up 7-1.
Philpott (3-4) took the loss for UF, allowing three runs on three hits over 1/3 of an inning.
Florida next plays Friday night at No. 1 Texas (7:30 p.m, ESPNU).

The Bulls sent nine batters to the plate and belted six hits, going ahead 2-1 on an RBI double by Brodil and tacking on with RBI singles from Mayo, Ryan Pruitt and Carlos Jacome.

USF takes an early 1-0 lead on Florida baseball, stringing together three straight singles in the top of the fourth, with Marcus Brodil's RBI single up the middle scoring the first run of the game for the Bulls. Christian Rodriguez entered the game in relief of McDonald and worked out of a first and second jam by getting Mayo to strike out to end the inning.

Florida baseball and USF remain scoreless after three innings. UF shortstop Bobby Boser just belted a ball to the wall in left field that was caught by USF left fielder Jackson Mayo. Sophomore righty Matthew Jenkins gave UF a solid start, allowing no runs on no hits and two walks, with seven strikeouts in 2 2/3. Caden McDonald is on in relief for UF.

SS Colby Shelton remains out for Florida baseball
Shortstop Colby Shelton remains out with a hand injury that will likely sideline him for the next two-three weeks. Shelton could return in time for the postseason if UF qualifies for NCAA Regionals.
