Pueblo man charged with murder after assault victim dies from injuries
A Pueblo man has been charged with first-degree murder after police allege he assaulted a man who died from his injuries 10 days later.
Ryan Ramos, 42, was charged with murder in connection with an April 15 incident, according to a Pueblo Police Department news release.
Police were called to the 600 block of Main Street at approximately 8:33 p.m. that evening on a reported assault. Officers arrived and found an unresponsive man, who was transported to a local hospital.
Ramos was arrested and originally charged with first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a financial device, and on warrants for failure to appear and two counts of being a fugitive of justice.
The victim in the case, who has not yet been publicly identified by the Pueblo County Coroner's Office, died as a result of his injuries on April 25. Ramos's assault charge was subsequently upgraded to first-degree murder.
The county coroner will identify the victim after his next of kin has been notified. The man's death marks Pueblo's fourth homicide of 2025.
Ramos is currently being held in the Pueblo County jail on a $500,000 bond, according to jail records.
A court appearance in the matter had not been set as of the evening of May 1.
