Here are the Montreal-area weekend road closures

Planning a trip in advance is highly recommended. Ville-Marie Tunnel (R-136) From Friday at midnight to Monday at 5 a.m., the Ville-Marie Expressway (R-136) westbound will be closed between Exit 5 (Robert-Bourassa Boulevard, Samuel-De Champlain bridge) and the Turcot interchange. As a result, the Lucien-L'Allier Street access will be closed by default. Victoria Bridge (R-112) From Friday at 7 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., the Montreal-bound lane (west span) of the Victoria Bridge will be closed between Saint-Lambert and Montreal. Sainte-Croix Avenue Between Friday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., Sainte-Croix Avenue will be completely closed in both directions between Côte-de-Liesse East and Dion Street. Note: On Côte-de-Liesse West, three of four lanes will be closed near Sainte-Croix Avenue. REM light rail line The network is closed every Saturday and Sunday in May. Shuttles will be available. Bonaventure Highway (A-10) / Nuns' Island

National Bank of Canada reports profit of $896 million in second quarter

THE CANADIAN PRESS/Ryan Remiorz MONTREAL — National Bank of Canada reported a second-quarter profit of $896 million, down slightly from $906 million a year earlier. The Montreal-based bank says the profit amounted to $2.17 per diluted share for the quarter ended April 30, compared with $2.54 per diluted share a year ago. Revenue for the quarter totalled $3.65 billion, compared with $2.75 billion in the same quarter last year. National Bank's provisions for credit losses in the quarter amounted to $545 million, up from $138 million. The bank says its adjusted profit, which excludes items related to its recent acquisition of Canadian Western Bank, amounted to $2.85 per diluted share, up from an adjusted profit of $2.54 per diluted share a year ago.
