He's allowed two earned runs in his first three starts (15.2 innings) of the season with the Marlins, and opposing hitters are batting just .185 against his four-seam fastball, a pitch he throws for an average velocity of 97.5 mph. Adding Weathers to the Cubs' rotation would allow manager Craig Counsell to return Ben Brown to the bullpen, and he would be extra insurance in case Shota Imanaga or Javier Assad suffer setbacks during their injury recoveries.
