More than 800 expected at PC Rosie Prior's funeral in York
More than 800 people are expected to attend the funeral of a police officer who died after being hit by a lorry when she stopped to help at a crash scene. PC Rosie Prior, 45, was off-duty when she stopped to help driver Ryan Welford on the verge of the A19 at Bagby, North Yorkshire on 11 January. Ms Prior and Mr Welford were both killed in the collision, while a teenage boy suffered serious Yorkshire Police said a full ceremonial police funeral would take place at York Minster on Thursday at 11:00 GMT.
Officers would line the final part of the route for the funeral cortege as it arrives at the minster, a force spokesperson said. Members of the public would not be able to enter the minster for the service but were welcome to line the route along Duncombe Place.
The funeral was also set to be live-streamed and would be available to watch on YouTube, the force said. It would be followed by a private service at Thirsk crematorium. The HGV driver, a 65-year-old man from Berwick-upon-Tweed, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later released under to highlights from North Yorkshire on BBC Sounds, catch up with the latest episode of Look North or tell us a story you think we should be covering here.
