The trial involving disgraced former music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs and his alleged freak-off parties started this week with jury selection currently underway.
Here's what Diddy is being accused of, along with the latest status of his trial.
Diddy jury selection
Potential jurors in the Sean Combs' trial were questioned one at a time by Southern District of New York Judge Arun Subramanian in the Manhattan courtroom on Monday, May 5.
The prosecution and defense expect to seat a jury within three days.
Questions ranged from their history with sexual assault or abuse to their familiarity with such notable names as Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams to comedian Mike Myers. It was unclear how those celebrities might be featured in the trial.
One juror, identified only as No. 2, said that despite having a sister who was physically assaulted by her first husband decades ago, he could remain impartial in the case. He also said, despite being familiar with the actors Michael B. Jordan and Myers, two celebrity names that apparently could be mentioned in the trial, he could remain objective.
In contrast, some prospective jurors were dismissed after saying they had seen "damning" images of the defendant or had relatives who had suffered abuse.
What is a freak-off party?
Various social media accounts have depicted Diddy's alleged freak-off parties as multi-day sex orgies involving heavy drug use, gallons of alcohol, and large quantities of baby oil and lubricants.
These events, according to reports, would start after his Diddy's White Parties, which attracted celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Paris Hilton, and Mariah Carey, according to a post by Michael Kaplan, of the New York Post.
When the A-listers left, a more secretive, hedonistic party would begin in back rooms, featuring Diddy and a select group of friends for the more debauched events.
Diddy was arrested in September 2024 amid ongoing lawsuits alleging abuse and months after a pair of federal raids that targeted him as the subject of a sex trafficking investigation.
