Bilibili: HSBC sees better outlook and valuation, upgrades to buy

-- HSBC upgraded Bilibili (NASDAQ:BILI) to Buy from Hold in a note on Wednesday, citing a stronger outlook in gaming, advertising, and profitability, along with an undemanding valuation. The bank also raised its price target to $22.50 from $21.50, implying roughly 25% upside. 'We are encouraged to see Sanmou Season 7 (S7) beat our / Street expectations,' HSBC analysts wrote, adding that they are 'more constructive on soon to launch S8,' which is expected to debut in late May with significant updates. HSBC lifted its game revenue forecasts by 6 to 8% for 2025-2027 and increased overall topline projections by 2%, also citing 'better-than-expected VAS driven by quality user growth.' First-quarter results exceeded expectations, with non-GAAP net profit 25% above HSBC estimates and 40% above consensus. This was attributed to 'lower-than-expected R&D and G&A expense.' HSBC now expects a 20% revenue increase in the second quarter, driven by 61% year-over-year growth in games, 19% in advertising, and 10% in value-added services. 'More resilient performance in high-margin game and ad businesses can support stronger earnings prospects,' the analysts wrote. In advertising, growth was underpinned by improved ad load, higher eCPM, and growing user traffic. HSBC expects 'ad tech improvement is expected to further enhance user targeting and conversion.' Bilibili is also building out its AI capabilities by fine-tuning open-source models and plans to launch a text-to-video tool for content creators by the end of 2025. At 22x 2025 earnings and with 48% non-GAAP EPS growth forecast for 2026, HSBC believes Bilibili's valuation is compelling. Russia hit by mass flight disruptions

Moscow airports have faced severe disruptions from Ukrainian drone strikes, stranding thousands of passengers Ukrainian drone attacks across Russia sparked widespread travel chaos late Tuesday and early Wednesday, forcing multiple Russian airlines to cancel and reroute dozens of flights. Repeated airport closures in Moscow and multiple regions threw operations into disarray and left thousands of passengers stuck on parked flights or stranded in airports without accommodation. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported that air defense systems shot down at least eight drones on Tuesday evening and another nine early Wednesday morning. The wave of attacks marked the third consecutive day of drone assaults on the capital, just days ahead of the city's May 9 Victory Day parade. Aviation authorities grounded flights at Moscow's Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky airports, as well as in the cities of Nizhny Novgorod, Kirov, Yaroslavl, Kazan. Russia's major carriers including Aeroflot, Pobeda, and S7 warned passengers to brace for disruptions on Tuesday and Wednesday. S7, pledged to provide full refunds for affected passengers or rebook them on alternative flights. 'The restrictions were imposed to ensure the safety of civil aircraft flights,' Artyom Korenyako, a spokesperson for Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency, told reporters. Residents in the Ryazan, Tula, Orel, and Moscow regions reported seeing waves of drones flying toward the Russian capital. The closures come as Russia expects 29 foreign leaders to attend the Victory Day military parade in Moscow later this week. Chinese President Xi Jinping, who will arrive for a full state visit and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva are among the expected attendees, according to Kremlin foreign policy aide Yury Ushakov. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico will be the only European leaders present at the parade. The head of Kiev's Center for Countering Disinformation Andrey Kovalenko has said on his Telegram channel that Ukraine's overnight attacks targeted the Kubinka airbase in Moscow region, as well as the Shaykovka airfield in Kaluga region. The attacks come despite Russian President Vladimir Putin's announcement of a unilateral ceasefire from midnight May 7 to midnight May 11. Framed as a humanitarian gesture to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany, the Kremlin said the three-day pause was also intended to open the door to potential 'direct negotiations with Kiev without preconditions.' Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Wednesday that despite the latest attack, the ceasefire declared by the Russian president remains in effect. 'This is an initiative by the Russian side, by President Putin. It remains in force,' he told reporters.

Honda GT could be brand's first rear-wheel drive fastback

At the 2025 Shanghai motor show the covers were whipped off the Honda GT, a slinky electric fastback that seems destined only for the Chinese market. Designed to give a 'new sensation of driving pleasure', the GT has a 'low and wide' stance matched with blacked out A-pillars for a visor-like window graphic, a crisp shoulder line, flush-fitting door handles, and frameless windows. Compared to the concept shown at last year's Beijing motor show, few, if any, body panels have been changed, but the bumpers and lights have been tweaked, while the interior is substantially different. The sporting theme carries over to the cabin where the GT is available with a grippy bucket-like seats, red leather to offset the otherwise black interior, and a steering wheel with flat bottom and top. And because in 2025 nothing says cutting edge more than a surfeit of screens, the GT has up to six screens. There's a thin and wide instrumentation display ahead of the driver, a large central touchscreen, a portrait touchscreen next to the gear shifter, a 'far-focus display' for the front passenger, and screen in each front door card for the wing mirror cameras. Following on P7 and S7 crossovers revealed last year, the GT is next production car in Honda's Ye series of EVs developed specifically for China. Like P7 and S7, the GT rides on the e:N Architecture W. Honda has yet to announce what will be power the GT, but the P7/S7 twins are available with 200kW single-motor rear-wheel drive and 350kW dual-motor all-wheel drivetrains. Both P7/S7 drivetrains are matched up to a 89.8kWh battery pack that's supposed to be good for 620km of range in the all-wheel drive variant, and 650km in the rear-wheel drive. Do take these numbers with a grain or three of salt, as they're generated under the generous CLTC standard. If the GT is offered in rear-wheel drive, it will be the closest thing yet to a rear-wheel drive Honda sedan. The company has resisted adopting rear-wheel drive for its luxury Acura marque, but has offered a few rear-driven vehicles over the years, primarily on supercars (NSX), sports cars (S660, S2000), kei cars (Beat, Vamos), and, recently, EVs (e, P7/S7). Like most Honda cars sold in China, there will be two versions of the GT — one for each of the automaker's joint venture partners, Dongfeng and GAC. The Dongfeng version, pictured here in blue, has an arrow-like head- and tail-light treatment. The latter features a clear plastic garnish with a 3D effect as part of the full-width tail-lights. GAC's iteration, seen here in red, has a set of crab claw-shaped headlights, and a thinner strip of tail-lights, also with a crab claw-shaped lighting graphic. As far as we can tell, there are no sheetmetal differences between the GAC and Dongfeng models. Most Chinese market Hondas — such as the Civic/Integra, CR-V/Breeze, Accord/Inspire, Fit/Life, and Odyssey/Elysion — have different nameplates, as well as styling changes, for their GAC and Dongfeng variants, but the two production partners will use the GT name for the electric fastback.

8 Things to Know Before Getting a Robot Vacuum

Robot vacuums aim to fulfill the dream of every time-strapped person — that is, the dream of having a machine autonomously vacuum your floors clean and even mop them, too. It's a lovely thought: coming home to a clean home, with your little robot companion napping in its dock after a hard day's work. Of course, robovac owners know the reality is not that simple. While the technology found in robovacs has improved significantly since the introduction of the first Roomba in 2002 — for example, they are now much better equipped to navigate homes and some models can handle both vacuum and mopping functions — robovacs have a long way to go before they can claim to be truly autonomous cleaners. Here are eight things you should know before getting a robot vacuum. Robovacs use different technologies for them to be able to "see" and map your home, but some of these technologies often work better than others. For example, robovac maker Roborock employs RGB cameras and LiDAR in its S7 and S8 MaxV Ultra units, which CNET's test team found allowed them to accurately map and consistently clean every inch of our test floor. Robovacs employing other technologies don't fare as well, missing certain spots such as corners or even skipping rooms entirely. The point is, expect your robovac to do a pretty good job getting around, but you may have to slightly adjust your living space for a better clean. Speaking of adjusting your space, expect to get in the habit of clearing your living space before your robovac can get to work. With the exception of the Roborock Saros Z70 unveiled at this year's CES, which has an arm that can pick up socks, you'll have to remove any clothing or cords on the floor before your robovac gets to work. Got pets? Better hope they didn't have an accident, because robovacs have been known to run right over poop and spread it around the house. That said, certain robovacs do a fine job navigating pet messes, such as the Roomba J7 Plus, which CNET has named the best poop-detecting robovac. Speaking of furry friends, pet parents should be aware that many dogs and cats can find robovacs scary and stress-inducing (although dogs may find robovacs less threatening than more traditional vacuums). According to "The combination of loud noise, unpredictable movement and a strange smell is often overwhelming for cats and causes them anxiety." If you're still interested in buying a robovac, help your animals slowly adjust to their presence in your home. Even with newer, fancier robovac units that automatically empty their dustbins, refill water tanks and clean mop pads, you'll still have to conduct regular maintenance on your device so that it continues to perform well and won't prematurely break down. If your robovac doesn't self-empty, expect to do a dustbin dump every day. You'll also have to keep the wheels clean of debris on a daily basis. Other maintenance includes cleaning brush rolls and wheels every week and regularly checking charging contacts and sensors. Most robovacs autonomously charge themselves and many now come with self-emptying and self-cleaning docks. As mentioned, robovacs need sensors to navigate their environments. However, in the course of cleaning, these sensors may accumulate dust and other debris. To help your robovac stay on the top of its game, regularly clean sensors with a microfiber cloth (the same used to clean monitors and other screens). You may be tempted by combo robovacs that not only vacuum your floors, but mop as well. While certain units do an admirable job at both, expect to pay a several hundred dollar premium. Other issues can pop up as well, with combo robovacs leaving carpets damp or dragging a dirty mop pad across your floor. Certain robovacs perform both tasks better than others. For example, the Roomba Combo J7 Plus (one of CNET's picks for best overall robovac) comes equipped with an arm that stows the mop pad when carpets are detected. Along with keeping your living space tidy so your robovac can perform better, expect to clean up after it as well. While certain units (like the aforementioned Roborock) do a great job cleaning every inch of a room, others may skip out on areas such as corners or under furniture. It can also be quite annoying to call out the robovac for some spot cleaning, like, say, after dinner. It's good to have another vacuum cleaner that you control around for the messes left behind by the robovac. And for robo mops? Many lack the power to clean deep stains, so expect the need to apply some elbow grease. Robovacs will overall save you time, but be prepared to regularly chip in to help. Whether a robovac will work great for you depends on your living space. As mentioned, many robovacs often struggle with cleaning corners. They also have a tendency to get stuck on the thresholds between rooms (hence a new unit seen at CES that's equipped with legs). But if there's one thing that all robovacs can't handle, it's stairs. So if your living space is spread throughout multiple floors, expect to either carry your robovac to other floors to clean, or to buy a unit for each floor. Knowing what to expect when it comes to keeping your robovac running smoothly can help save you a lot of time and keep your home cleaner. If your robovac runs every day, you should empty its dustbin just as frequently. This will ensure that your robot works optimally and won't break down prematurely. This wasn't always the case, but several combo robot vacuums come highly recommended. CNET's picks for the best overall robot vacuum are the Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo and Roomba Combo J7 Plus, both of which are equipped with mopping capabilities. CNET has named the iRobot Roomba S9 Plus the best robovac for pet hair and plush carpets. According to our reviewer, "[I]f your home is filled with plush carpets and your pets are having a field day shedding fur across them, then the self-emptying Roomba S9 Plus is a perfect pick for your home." Many robovacs work great on hardwood floors, but if you're looking for the best, CNET recommends either the Roomba. Combo J7 Plus or Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo, which we've named as best overall robovacs. They both mop, too. Along with being the overall best pick for pet owners, the iRobot Roomba S9 Plus also leads the pack when it comes to carpets. Our review team noted "its eye-popping performance on thick, plush carpets." Yes, robovac batteries are replaceable, and depending on how much you use them, you may have to do so every few years. Prices also differ, with iRobot selling replacement batteries for $90. A less official-looking battery for Eufy and Ecovacs units can be found on Amazon for around $20.
