Bursa Malaysia Ends Lower As Key Index Slips Below 1,550
Bursa Malaysia closed in negative territory on Wednesday, with the benchmark FBM KLCI falling 4.07 points or 0.26% to 1,544.80 amid broad-based profit-taking and cautious regional sentiment.
The key index, which ranged between 1,542.47 and 1,553.84 throughout the day, saw weakness across heavyweight counters, reflecting subdued investor appetite ahead of upcoming global economic data.
Broader market performance was similarly sluggish. The FBM 70 slid 67.47 points to 16,345.90 (-0.41%), while the FBM Emas lost 41.23 points to close at 11,525.68 (-0.36%). The FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index (F4GBM) dipped 3.24 points to 929.68 (-0.35%), and the FBM Shariah Index fell 17.23 points to 11,445.65 (-0.15%).
Turnover remained heavy, with several small-cap and tech counters actively traded. HM (0060) topped the volume chart with 600.7 million shares traded, rising 0.5 sen to 18.5 sen. SCABLE (5170) plummeted 5 sen to 3 sen on 591.2 million shares, while MYEG (0138) gained 0.5 sen to 90 sen with 378.3 million shares changing hands.
Inari Amertron (0166) was among the biggest laggards, losing 15 sen or 7.4% to RM1.87 on high volume, following cautious analyst revisions and weaker-than-expected earnings for its latest quarter.
Market sentiment was weighed by external headwinds and concerns over a lack of fresh domestic catalysts, keeping investors on the sidelines. Related
