EAW not needed for regional training facility
The Scott County Board of Commissioners made a negative declaration today (March 27) on the need for an Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) for the SCALE Regional Public Safety Training Facility in Jordan.
Scott County staff recommended this action due to their finding that an EAW was not warranted for this project, and that any potential environmental impacts will be adequately addressed through existing regulations for surface water protection, by design for lead recovery, by lighting design, by noise attenuation measures, and by the physical location of the tower. The negative declaration was also due, in part, to the recognition that the Wildlife Refuge already allows shooting within its borders for several hunting seasons.
