‘Insignia-2025': Two-day fest at SDMCET from May 16
SDM College of Engineering and Technology (SDMCET), Dharwad, will host the 14th edition of two-day national-level Techno-Cultural Festival, 'Insignia-2025' on its campus on May 16 and 17. Addressing presspersons in Dharwad on Thursday, principal of SDMCET Ramesh Chakrasali said that they were expecting a participation of around 2,000 students from across the State and neighbouring States. Prof. Chakrasali said that in all there would be 60 different events including technical events like paper presentation and quiz, real world business scenario activities, science projects and others. There would also be cultural events and contests of Eastern and Western dance and music, dramatics, literary events, and fine arts. Secretary of SDME Society Jeevandhar Kumar will inaugurate the event on Friday (May 16) at 9.30 a.m. As part of the festival, renowned Bollywood playback singer Shashwath Singh will present a live concert on May 17 at 7.30 p.m. at the SDMCET Sports Ground. Prof. Chakrasali said that there would also be special auto expo and drone competition. To encourage students to donate blood voluntarily, a blood donation camp was also being held in collaboration with SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital, Dharwad, he said.

‘Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are modernising chemical industry'
'Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are modernising the chemical industry through enhanced data-driven decision-making, process automation and intelligent optimization systems,' Director of Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Dharwad Mahadeva Prasanna has said. He was inaugurating a three-day workshop on 'Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Chemical Engineers' organised by the Department of Chemical Engineering of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Engineering and Technology (SDMCET) in Dharwad on Thursday. The workshop is being held in association with the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE), BRC Bengaluru. Presenting an elaborate picture on technological advances, Prof. Mahadeva Prasanna highlighted the growing significance of AI and ML in the engineering world. Making the introductory remarks, Principal of SDMCET Ramesh L. Chakrasali emphasised the importance of interdisciplinary learning and the role of AI and ML in shaping the future of the chemical engineering education and industry applications. Presiding over the inaugural session, Secretary of SDME Society Jeevandhar encouraged students and faculty to actively engage with new technologies to stay industry-relevant. Lokeshwari briefed about the objectives of the workshop. Dean of Administration Keshava Josi and others were present. Subsequently, resource persons from across the country addressed the participants. Students, faculty members, and industry professionals are participating in the workshop.
