Born in Mangalore and brought up in Mumbai, Shirish Kunder studied Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering at the SDM College of Engineering and Technology in Dharwad. Since he became an engineer, he worked at Motorola for four years before changing profession. In 2006, Shirish Kunder took a leap of faith and became a director and directed his first project Jaan-E-Mann, starring Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Preity Zinta. However, all his hopes of being a director went in vain when the movie turned out to be a huge flop. Shirish's second directorial venture was Joker starring Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, and Shreyas Talpade. His third directorial venture was an 18-minute short film called Kriti, a psychological thriller starring Manoj Bajpayee, Radhika Apte, and Neha Sharma. All these films did not do well at the box office. Post the failures of the films, Shirish stayed away from the industry. Today marks the 52nd birthday of Shirish, and on the occasion of his birthday, Farah shared a goofy note about him on Instagram which read, 'Being called 'weird' is like being a Limited Edition… it just means you're something people don't see often! ‘Insignia-2025': Two-day fest at SDMCET from May 16
SDM College of Engineering and Technology (SDMCET), Dharwad, will host the 14th edition of two-day national-level Techno-Cultural Festival, 'Insignia-2025' on its campus on May 16 and 17. Addressing presspersons in Dharwad on Thursday, principal of SDMCET Ramesh Chakrasali said that they were expecting a participation of around 2,000 students from across the State and neighbouring States. Prof. Chakrasali said that in all there would be 60 different events including technical events like paper presentation and quiz, real world business scenario activities, science projects and others. There would also be cultural events and contests of Eastern and Western dance and music, dramatics, literary events, and fine arts. Secretary of SDME Society Jeevandhar Kumar will inaugurate the event on Friday (May 16) at 9.30 a.m. As part of the festival, renowned Bollywood playback singer Shashwath Singh will present a live concert on May 17 at 7.30 p.m. at the SDMCET Sports Ground. Prof. Chakrasali said that there would also be special auto expo and drone competition. To encourage students to donate blood voluntarily, a blood donation camp was also being held in collaboration with SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital, Dharwad, he said.
