Girls outperform boys in BU Plus III final year exams

Berhampur: Girls have maintained their
academic supremacy
at
Berhampur University
, securing top positions in 18 out of 26 subjects across arts, commerce, and science streams in the Plus III final year examinations, results of which were announced on Tuesday. Seshadev Achary from SDVM's computer science department, Neelakantha Nagar, emerged as the best graduate.
The university recorded impressive pass percentages across all streams: arts (96.82%), science (93.86%), and commerce (88.90%). Out of 24,143 students who appeared for the examinations, 23,093 successfully cleared them, according to controller of examinations Satyanarayan Kund.
In the arts stream, girls dominated most subjects, including anthropology, economics, education, English, home science, IR&PM, journalism and mass communication, mathematics, political science, Odia, psychology, and Sanskrit. Boys led in Hindi, history, philosophy, sociology, and geography.
The science stream saw girls excelling in botany, chemistry, geology, mathematics, physics, zoology, and information technology, while boys secured the top position in computer science. In commerce, male students claimed the highest rank.
The final semester examinations were conducted from March 6 to 17. Vice-chancellor Geetanjali Dash emphasized that timely examination conduct and result declaration remained a priority for the university, which has become the first state university to publish results this year.
