Driver assisting with investigations after motorcycle collides with car on Stevens Road

The motorcycle colliding with a car as the car crosses the yellow box from Stevens Road onto Draycott Park. PHOTO: SG ROAD VIGILANTE/FACEBOOK SINGAPORE - A 44-year-old man is assisting with police investigations following an accident involving a motorcycle and his car on May 15 . The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident at the junction of Stevens Road and Draycott Park at about 6.40pm that day. The motorcyclist, a 58-year-old man , was taken conscious to Singapore General Hospital , they added. In dashcam footage uploaded to the SG Road Vigilante's Facebook page, two cars are seen stopping before a yellow box along Stevens Road in the direction of the PIE. The cars occupy the middle and right lanes in the three-lane road. A silver car from the opposite side of Stevens Road then makes a right turn into Draycott Park using the yellow box at the junction. However, as this car crosses the box, a motorcycle in the left lane of Stevens Road heading straight in the direction of the PIE goes past one of the stationary cars and collides into the rear-left door of the silver car. After the collision, the biker, who appears to be a food delivery rider, is seen lying on the road about a metre from his bike, with some of his belongings scattered further away. The car, which is left with an immediate dent on its left rear back door, stops immediately along Draycott Park. According to figures the Traffic Police released in February, motorcylists account for a disproportionate number of accidents and fatalities on Singapore's roads. Motorcycles account for only 14.7 per cent of Singapore's total vehicle population, but figures showed motorcyclists and pillion riders accounted for more than half of all traffic accidents and fatalities. In 2024, TP figures showed there were 85 deaths of motorcyclists and pillion riders, up from 68 in 2023. Police investigations are ongoing.
