High street chain recalls children's clothes over strangulation fears

High street chain recalls children's clothes over strangulation fears Customers can get a full refund if they bring the items back to the store An urgent recall has been issued over children's clothing (Image: Matalan ) A popular high street shop has recalled a number of its children's clothing items due to a risk of "entrapment and strangulation". Matalan said the garments "do not meet or usual high standards for quality and safety". The warning relates to several boys' summer items including two pairs of swim shorts and a vest and short co-ord. The "immediate" recall notice on the store's website states that customers can bring the garments back to any Matalan store where staff will provide a full discount. ‌ It reads: "It has come to our attention that [these] boys' swim shorts do not meet our usual high standards for quality and safety, as there is high possibility of entrapment and strangulation with the draw cord. ‌ "As customer safety is our highest priority, we are immediately recalling these swim shorts. "If you've bought any of the swim shorts shown, please do not use the product and return it at your earliest convenience to your nearest Matalan store where our staff will be happy to give you a full refund. "You will not need to produce a receipt to claim a refund." "We pride ourselves on delivering great quality at great prices and we're really sorry for any inconvenience caused. ‌ "Please note this recall does not affect any other Matalan product. ITV have confirmed the line-up for its new SHARK attack reality show - including a comedy legend, boyband star and Strictly contestant. Titled SHARK! It will air to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Oscar-winning film Jaws.
