Jaisalmer: Tension gripped Jaisalmer's Mohangarh police station area Monday after remains of a child's body were found. Mohangarh police arrived at the scene and summoned the forensic team. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The remains were quite old and scattered, suggesting that the body was eaten by animals. The police are carrying out a detailed investigation into the incident. From the clothes found at the site, the body was identified as that of 8-year-old Suraj Meghwal, son of Gumanaram, who disappeared from home 11 days ago. The family identified the body. The remains have been sent for FSL analysis and DNA testing. The medical board will conduct a post-mortem before the remains are handed over to the family. Mohangarh station officer Nathu Singh stated that Gumanaram Meghwal's son, a resident of Mandha village, went missing on the morning of May 23 while playing outside his maternal grandparents' home in Mohangarh. Despite extensive search, the child was not found, and a missing person report was filed at Mohangarh police station on May 24. The family informed the police that the child was mentally challenged and could neither speak nor hear. The police registered a missing person case and began an active search. The SHO reported that Monday afternoon, information was received about the discovery of the child's skeletal remains, along with clothes, in the forest three kilometres from Mohangarh. Officer Nathu Singh and his team proceeded to the site and took possession of the child's clothes and scattered remains, which appeared to have been bitten by animals. Suspecting the remains and clothes to be those of the missing 8-year-old, the family was called to the spot, where they identified Suraj. The police have stated that the FSL team will conduct DNA testing, and a post-mortem will be performed by the medical board before handing over the remains to the family.

Punjab CM Mann lashes out at Akali leader Majithia

Mann slammed Majithia for allegedly politicizing the Amritsar blast incident in which a man died after trying to retrieve the explosive material. The chief minister's reaction came after Majithia consistently attacked the state government over the law and order issue. Chandigarh, May 28 (PTI) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Wednesday lashed out at SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia, accusing him of trying to 'mislead people with baseless propaganda' against the AAP government. 'Majithia questions law and order. But who is he to speak? During your regime, an SHO was shot while trying to protect the honour of his daughter, and slogans of 'Majithia Zindabad' were raised. Have you forgotten this,' he asked. The CM reminded people of the Nabha jailbreak incident during the erstwhile Akali regime and questioned the accountability of leaders like Majithia. In an official statement, Mann alleged that Akali leaders 'enabled drug mafias and gangsters, flooding Punjab with drugs and crime'. 'Whenever drug smugglers or mafias are caught, their connections inevitably lead back to Akali leaders,' Mann alleged. 'Majithia represents a legacy where the poor were jailed for standing up, while the powerful looted Punjab without consequence,' he claimed. 'The Akali Dal built an empire of corruption, allowing unchecked gangsters and smugglers to thrive. Now, they try to posture as saviours of Punjab. The people will no longer buy into their lies,' he said. 'Unlike Majithia, who thinks only of his personal benefits, my government is committed to policies that prioritize Punjab's common people. We will never sign off on any policy that harms Punjab or its people,' Mann said. The CM also hit out at Majithia's 'hypocrisy' in calling for law and order reforms. 'Under Badals and Majithia's leadership, Akali Dal became a symbol of lawlessness and greed. They are responsible for throwing Punjab into the quagmire of drugs and crime,' Mann further alleged. 'Every election, I have declared my assets. My wealth has consistently reduced because I serve Punjab, not myself. Can Majithia say the same,' Mann asked. The CM issued a warning to leaders who indulge in corrupt practices. 'Those who exploit the poor and rob Punjab will face justice. No amount of wealth can shield you from the consequences of your actions. Remember, the prayers of the poor and honest always reach God, and their curses are unstoppable,' he stated. No phones, don't sit in one spot: Lutyens Delhi Police get new directions after India-Pak tensions

Don't use your mobile phones. Don't be seated in one spot. Ensure maximum visibility — instructions were issued to police stations in Lutyens' Delhi to be more vigilant after tensions escalated between India and Pakistan earlier this month. The directive to 'ensure maximum visibility and presence of police staff in the area' was issued by New Delhi district DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police) Devesh Kumar Mahla on Tuesday. Station House Officers (SHOs) have been directed to conduct briefings of police staff in public places and instruct their officers not to use their phones or sit in one spot while on duty. Among the 15 police districts in the national capital, New Delhi comprises 10 police stations headed by SHOs and overseen by five ACPs. The New Delhi district is considered highly sensitive due to the presence of residences of VVIPs, politicians, and foreign dignitaries. Public briefings, checks According to the order seen, seen by The Indian Express, 'morning and evening briefings of staff (in proper uniform) shall be conducted by SHOs at prominent and highly visible public areas within their respective jurisdictions every day.' If the SHO is unavailable — on leave or other valid reasons — another inspector at the police station shall conduct the briefing. The order further said point-wise checking and briefing of staff deployed on picket duty (both permanent and temporary) shall be conducted by the SHO, or, in case of his justified absence, by another inspector of the police station at least twice in each shift. Additionally, the SDPO (Sub-Divisional Police Officer), who is an Assistant Commissioner of Police-level officer, shall conduct a briefing once during each shift. While checking and briefing picket staff, the SHO and SDPO shall ensure there are at least three barricades in good condition with fluorescent and reflective tape at the picket. Besides, there should be a minimum staff of three personnel with arms and ammunition, body-worn cameras and umbrellas for shade. At night, in addition to the above, the picket staff must have blinkers, shoulder lights and fluorescent jackets. The order said staff must be cautioned to not use a mobile phone in public view. At any point, personnel should not sit together, with no checking being conducted. The conduct of the staff should be good and professional, the directions stated. Checking and briefing staff on motorcycle duty shall also be conducted by the SHO. In case of his absence, the order said, it should be carried out by another inspector at least two times in each shift and once by the SDPO in each shift. The SHO and SDPO shall ensure that two personnel are assigned to one motorcycle. If this isn't the case, then two motorcycles shall patrol as a buddy pair. One of the motorcycle staff must have arms and ammunition, a checking register and body-worn camera with them.
