Two new Noida expressway underpasses: 15 firms throw hat in the ring
Noida: The Noida Authority has announced that 15 companies have submitted proposals for constructing two new underpasses on the Noida Expressway. The Authority will evaluate these proposals before finalising the construction agency.
The underpasses will be built near Jhatta and Sultanpur villages and will be developed using diaphragm wall technology, necessitating traffic diversion during construction.
While the Sultanpur underpass will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 80 crore, the Jhatta underpass is estimated to cost Rs 100 crore. The completion deadline for both projects, measuring 700 metres each, is 18 months.

Vijay Rawal, deputy general manager (civil) of the Noida Authority, said that the Sultanpur village underpass will be built near Jaypee Wish Town in Sector 128.
"This underpass is intended to facilitate movement for residents of Wish Town, Sultanpur, and Sectors 128 and 129, providing easier access to Sectors 105 and 108," he said.
Citing that nearly 1,00,000 people currently live in Jaypee Wish Town, residents highlighted the urgent need for an underpass at the place.
"The area hosts multiple IT firms, schools, academic institutions, and hospitals. Thousands of people travel in the area and need to cross the Expressway.

There are two small underpasses near our societies, but they are unable to handle the traffic pressure during peak hours," SK Maheshwari, a resident, said, adding that the underpass should be wide enough for two vehicles to pass at a time.
The second underpass will be constructed near Jhatta village and will serve people who are travelling from Sectors 145 and 146 to Sectors 155 and 159, as well as Greater Noida.
This area also hosts numerous IT firms and business parks, making the underpass a crucial addition.
Officials said that the underpasses will be constructed using diaphragm wall technology, which will necessitate the diversion of traffic during the construction period.
Currently, there are four small underpasses at Sector 97, Sultanpur, Advant, and Jhatta village, as well as five large underpasses at Hajipur, Sector 96, Panchsheel Inter College, Advant, and Sector 148 along the Noida Expressway.
These new underpasses are expected to improve traffic flow and accessibility in the region, addressing the growing demands of the area's expanding population and business activities.
