Small plane goes off runway at Centennial Airport

DENVER (KDVR) — South Metro Fire Rescue responded to an aircraft emergency at Centennial Airport just before 1 p.m. on Sunday after a small aircraft taxied off the taxilane into the grass, the airport said. Centennial Airport, in a post on X, said the sole occupant of the plane, a small RV-6 aircraft, exited the plane with no injuries. Multiple grass fires ignite in Denver metro area Saturday, fire danger ahead
DENVER (KDVR) — Several vegetation fires were reported in the metro area Saturday amid dry, breezy conditions in Denver weather. Warmer air is in the forecast, and fire dangers are expected to be elevated in the coming days. Bar crawls, parades and things to do for St. Patrick's Day weekend in Denver South Metro Fire Rescue has had a busy Saturday, reporting three vegetation fires in under two hours. Multiple units responded to a small, moving grass fire at the Normandy Estates Pool and Tennis Club in unincorporated Jefferson County. SMFR said the fire was near the pool and fence line but was under control around 12:40 p.m., and crews were mopping up. The agency said the fire was about 100 yards by 3 feet wide. Around 1 p.m., SMFR said multiple units responded to a vegetation fire near 6191 W. Plymouth Dr. in unincorporated Jefferson County. Minutes later, the agency said the fire was contained and crews were mopping up. SMFR crews responded to another vegetation fire around 1:40 p.m. in Centennial near East County Line Road and South Colorado Boulevard. The agency said it was a small grass fire near a cement wall, and crews extinguished the fire and cleared the scene shortly after. A Red Flag Warning was issued for Sunday afternoon for areas of south central Colorado, including Pueblo and Colorado Springs. There is also a Fire Weather Watch is in effect for south central Colorado as well as northeast portions of the plains. Winds will be around 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. The NWS also said fire weather conditions in the northern plains will be near critical. Monday, the NWS said fire weather conditions will be near critical in isolated areas along the foothills, South Park and Eastern Plains.
