Groundbreaking for Forensic Science University Sub-Center in Nagpur Set for May-End
Nagpur: The much-anticipated sub-center of the
National Forensic Science University
(NFSU) at Nagpur is set to take a major step forward, with the
groundbreaking ceremony
expected to take place by the end of May, sources confirmed to TOI. The event is likely to witness the presence of senior dignitaries, including Gujarat campus director Prof Dr SO comes soon after the cabinet decision on Tuesday to allocate 20.33 hectare land at Chincholi in Kamptee taluka for the sub-center.
The meeting, chaired by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, marks a significant move to bring high-standard
forensic education
and infrastructure to the city, as this will be the second campus of NFSU in Maharashtra after NFSU, headquartered at Gandhinagar, Gujarat, and governed by the Union ministry of home affairs, is India's only
forensic science university
of international repute. The Union home ministry approved a substantial grant of Rs120 crore for the
Nagpur sub-center
, to be disbursed over the 2025–28 construction begins at Chincholi, the sub-center will function temporarily out of the Bharosa Cell office at Parsodi-Subhash Nagar. The permanent facility, once completed, is expected to benefit judicial and investigative arms across the state—including the Directorate of Judicial Scientific Laboratories, regional and smaller labs, police personnel, judicial officers, medical experts, and prosecutors.
