LACEYVILLE, Pa. (WETM) – A Laceyville man has been sentenced to serve time in a county correctional facility after officials say he was found with child sex abuse materials. Blake A. Manning, 19, was sentenced to a minimum of six months to a maximum of two years in the Bradford County Correctional Facility, along with five years of probation, for the crime of possession of child sexual abuse material, as stated in a release from the Bradford County District Attorney's Office. Painted Post woman arrested on child sex abuse material charge Officials say Manning was charged with the crime by Pennsylvania State Police in October of 2024 following an investigation where troopers found pictures of two 14-year-old girls on Manning's cell phone. As a result, Manning will be placed on monitoring with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, SORNA and Pennsylvania's version of Megan's Law for 15 years, which will require him to report to state police regularly, said the DA. Police: Syracuse man arrested in Bath for driving without a license In addition, the DA noted that if Manning receives any additional charges or fails to complete the terms of his probation when he is released from the correctional facility, his probation could be revoked, and he could face a harsher sentence, including time in state prison. In August 2023, a Virginia State Police (VSP) trooper was sent to investigate Parton, who was registered as living at a Bristol, Virginia address. That trooper reportedly learned that Parton had an Instagram account with a different name, which must be reported to the sex offender registry. The complaint also noted that in August 2023, Parton was on probation and was not allowed to have any social media accounts. Additionally, the VSP trooper reportedly found Parton had a registered vehicle with a listed address in Roanoke, which he also had not reported to the registry. Parton had also allegedly not reported to the proper channels that he had changed his employment and was working at a pizza chain in Blountville. According to the complaint, Parton was sent re-registration forms in May and August 2023 but did not fill them out and submit them. Due to the social media accounts, vehicle registration and employment change, Parton was charged with three registration violations. He was arrested in August 2023 and given a bond. Additional charges were filed against him in September 2023, and a VSP trooper learned Parton had allegedly boarded a cruise ship in Galveston, Texas and gotten off in Cancun, Mexico. Parton reportedly never returned to the ship and never notified authorities that he was traveling. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. State Senate votes to strengthen PA's sexual offender registry

May 5—WILKES-BARRE — Sen. Lisa Baker on Monday said children and families deserve to know that those entrusted with authority in youth sports and nonprofits are being held fully accountable when that trust is violated. "This legislation reflects our commitment to closing potentially dangerous gaps in the law and ensuring that sexual predators cannot hide behind a title or a uniform," said Baker, R-Lehman Township. "It is a necessary and overdue measure to strengthen protections for our most vulnerable. Baker and Sen. Scott Martin, R-13th District, said children in Pennsylvania would be better protected against sexual predators under legislation unanimously approved by the Senate on Monday. Baker and Martin are co-authors of Senate Bill 255. which adds the crime of sexual assault by a sports official, volunteer or employee of nonprofit association as a Tier II sexual offense, requiring individuals convicted of this offense to register as a sexual offender under the Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). Baker and Martin said under law, a conviction for this offense does not require registration as sex offender. They said closing this loophole will strengthen SORNA and ensure potentially violent sex offenders can be properly monitored, Similar legislation sponsored by Baker and Martin was introduced during the 2023-24 Legislative Session and approved by the Senate unanimously. "Crimes against children are disgraceful, and we cannot afford to let any offender slip through the cracks to victimize young people," Martin said. "Our bill will ensure individuals who are in a position of authority over children and are convicted of sexual assault can be monitored and evaluated to minimize the risks they pose to minors." Senate Bill 255 now heads to the House of Representatives for consideration. Reach Bill O'Boyle at 570-991-6118 or on Twitter @TLBillOBoyle.
