SSPU and UNESCO collaborate for skill based programme
Pune: An agreement was signed between
Symbiosis Skills and Professional University
(SSPU) and
UNESCO
for global educational exchange, innovative teaching methods, and capacity building on Friday. The university, in line with the 'Empowered Women, Empowered Society' programme, will focus on
women's development
.
The MoU was signed during a one-day international conference on
skill development
and technical and
vocational education and training
, organised jointly by SSPU, UNESCO, and the National Skill Development Corporation. The event was attended by S.B. Mujumdar, President of Symbiosis, Friedrich Huebler, Head of UNESCO-UNEVOC, Sonam Wangchuk, Founding Director of HIA Ladakh, Shekhar Singh, Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, and Swati Mujumdar, Pro-Chancellor of SSPU.
Swati Mujumdar added, "Following the vision of India for 'Skill India' and 'Make in India' initiatives, our university is taking progressive steps. SSPU makes a significant contribution to building a developed India. We are focusing on women's development. Over the past five years, thousands of women were trained in future-ready skills. We emphasise providing industries with skilled workers needed in the modern era. Teachers play a crucial role in nation-building, and our university works toward supporting and strengthening them."
Tim Curtis, Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for South Asia, said, "With the global youth population growing, major employment challenges will arise.
