Precautionary boil water advisory issued in N.O. East
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for residents in parts of New Orleans East. SWBNO officials said the water pressure in the area dropped below 20 pounds per square unit for about five minutes due to a valve failure at Chatelain Drive. The issue has since been resolved but residents in the following area will be impacted: Hayne Boulevard from Paris Road to Read Boulevard Paris Road from Hayne Boulevard to I-10 Service Road I-10 Service Road from Paris Road to Read Boulevard Read Boulevard from I-10 Service Rd to Hayne Boulevard Water quality samples are currently being tested. results will take up to 24 hours to return, according to SWBNO officials. For the time being, residents are being advised to use bottled water or boiled tap water to cook, drink, clean food, wash hands or bathe. Randy Hayman named new Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans executive director
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans has announced a new executive director after a search that began back in February when the previous director, Ghassan Korban, announced his departure. Hayman previously served as the commissioner and CEO of the Philadelphia Water Department, as well as general counsel for DC Water and Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District. Hayman also has experience as a partner with Beveridge and Diamond PC, the United States' oldest and largest environmental law firm. While in leading in Philadelphia, three billion gallons of pollution were reportedly removed from the water before it could reach streams and rivers. He also played a lead role in the integration of smart meters across every home in the state. Finalists announced in Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans executive director search
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officials with the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans have announced the selection of two finalists in the search for its next executive director. The search was launched after former Executive Director Ghassan Korban announced he would be stepping down in February. The two finalists were selected from a pool of 68 candidates, nine of which were chosen after a screening process. SWBNO officials said Bezak is currently the Transportation Department Director for the City of San Diego and has held previous leadership positions at DC Water and Tetra Tech. She received a Master of Science in biological systems engineering from Virginia Tech and a dual Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering and architecture from Lawrence Technological University. The second finalist is Randy Hayman. SWBNO officials said Hayman is the Commissioner and CEO of the Philidelphia Water Department. He has also held the potions of general counsel for DC Water and Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District and partner at Beveridge & Diamond, an environmental law firm. Hayman received a juris doctor from Georgetown University Law Center and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Michigan. Boil water advisory issued for East Bank of New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officials with the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans have announced that a precautionary boil water advisory has been issued for the city's East Bank on Sunday, Jan. 26. Alma Cafe to open second location in Mid-City SWBNO officials said the advisory comes after a power surge at the Carrollton Water Treatment Plant caused a drop in water pressure. They said pumping has been restored and pressure is recovering. Residents in the impacted area are being asked to conserve water by not using appliances like washing machines and dishwashers.
