Two motorcyclists killed in separate incidents

Kota Kinabalu: Two motorcyclists were killed in separate accidents within 24 hours, here, Sunday In TUARAN, a 32-year-old male died after being trapped under a 10-tonne container along Jalan 7, KKIP Timur, near the solar factory. The incident at 11.05am involved a SYM E Bonus 110 motorcycle. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries to the head and body. Lintas Fire and Rescue Station Chief Agustavia Joe Guasi said they received a distress call at 11.12am, prompting the deployment of 10 personnel with a fire engine and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle, assisted by 14 more firefighters and an additional engine and EMRS unit from the Kota Kinabalu station. 'Upon arrival, firefighters found the victim trapped underneath the lorry and used special rescue tools to extricate the body, which was then handed over to the Health Ministry personnel for further action,' she said. In PENAMPANG, a 42-year-old was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car near Kg Meruntum, Putatan, along the Kota Kinabalu-Papar road.
Advertisement Penampang District Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton said preliminary investigations showed the motorcycle was suspected of travelling against the flow of traffic from Kinarut towards Putatan when the collision happened at 4.20am. The car was driven by a 55-year-old man heading from Petagas towards Papar. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The remains has been sent for post mortem. Those with information are urged to contact the investigating officer Insp Amrin Mohamad Arif at 017-6638278.
