Ex-Sabah governor Ahmadshah Abdullah dies, aged 79

(Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : Ahmadshah Abdullah, who served as Sabah's governor from 2003 to 2010, died this evening. He was 79. In a brief statement, Sabah state secretary Safar Untong said Ahmadshah died at 8.45pm. 'The state government has announced a day of mourning and the Sabah flag will be flown at half mast,' Safar said. Sabah finance minister Masidi Manjun said Ahmadshah died at KPJ Hospital in Kota Kinabalu. Before succeeding Sakaran Dandai, Ahmadshah was the deputy state secretary.

PM holds first meeting with Musa Aman

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today held a meeting with Sabah governor Musa Aman, his first since Musa's appointment last January. Anwar, who is on a one-day working visit to Sabah, headed to Istana Seri Kinabalu after he landed at Kota Kinabalu International Airport this morning, Bernama reported. His half-hour meeting with the former Sabah chief minister concluded with a luncheon at the palace. Anwar later proceeded to Tawau, where he officiated the closing ceremony of the Sabah Madani Rakyat Programme 2025 at Dataran Majlis Perbandaran Tawau. He is also scheduled to hand over the completed Tamu Desa Sabah project, present the Sabah entrepreneur excellence awards, and launch the solar programme in Tawau. Anwar and Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor are also expected to conduct a walkabout to observe the services provided by several federal agencies and departments. Anwar is scheduled to return to Kuala Lumpur this evening.
