PM to attend Sabah's Kaamatan Festival on May 30
KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to attend the 2025 Sabah Kaamatan Festival celebration on May 30.
This would be his third time attending the celebration held at the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association Hall in Penampang since he was elected as the 10th prime minister in 2022.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey G. Kitingan, who is also the main committee chairman for the state-level Kaamatan Festival 2025, said Anwar will officiate the festival on that day.
"The official closing ceremony of the Kaamatan Festival will be graced by Sabah Governor Tun Musa Aman, on May 31," he told the media after paying a courtesy call on Musa at Istana Seri Kinabalu here.
According to Jeffrey, the main events will include cultural performances, visits to traditional houses and the Unduk Ngadau pageant in the afternoon.
He added that the event will also welcome visitors from abroad, including Kalimantan, as well as invited ambassadors and investors.
"Kaamatan is an important platform to stimulate Sabah's economy. That's why the government has allocated significant funding to support a variety of activities, not only in Sabah but also in Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia.
