The authorities had sought Rs 8.71 crore from the govt for construction of the over 1-km boundary wall and some other facilities like a room for a security guard and drainage.
As the hostel is without a boundary wall, its inmates alleged that animals, especially cows, entered from the back of the hostel. The hostel has around 200 boarders.
The university relinquished 25.672 acres of land for the development of the airportp last year under the direction of the govt.
"As the construction of the airport is underway, a large number of trees were cut down. The trees served as the natural boundary for the boys' hostels, which were situated on the other side of the proposed airport," an officer said.
"We thanked the govt for sanctioning the funds for construction of the boundary wall for the hostel, realising the problem of the inmates," said the VC. "We hope the work will be completed before the admission of newcomers in the hostels this year," she added.
