BENGALURU: BJP General Secretary and Rajya Sabha member Radha Mohan Das Agrawal dared Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for an open debate with state BJP president BY Vijayendra on the government's performance and the party's chargesheet, where they have listed out the government's failures. Agrawal slammed Siddaramaiah for filing a defamation case against the BJP for criticising his government. 'Let the debate be telecast across Karnataka. If he (Siddaramaiah) is confident and has the courage to respond to the allegations, let him participate in the debate. We are ready, and we will invite them. If the CM does not agree to a debate, it means that our allegations are true,' the BJP leader said. Agrawal said that Congress won 136 seats in 2023, and within one year, the people of Karnataka did not vote for them in the Lok Sabha polls. 'Congress' corruption has been exposed. If it continues, Congress will lose future polls,' he said. On the Congress government deciding to file a defamation case against BJP, he said, 'The Congress organised its Sadhana Samavesha on May 20 to celebrate the second anniversary of the party coming to power in the state. As a responsible opposition party, BJP gave counter advertisements highlighting the failures of the State Government and released a chargesheet. If they did not agree with our chargesheet, they should have replied before the public. It is common in democracy to make allegations and counter allegations. But perhaps for the first time, a government is filing defamation case against the opposition.'

BJP releases ‘chargesheet' against Congress, alleges corruption, administrative collapse in the State
BJP on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Congress and released a 'chargesheet', accusing it of misgovernance that led to administrative collapse in the State. Addressing a press conference in the city, senior BJP leader and MLC, C.T. Ravi, said, 'The Congress celebrated the 'Sadhana Samavesha' marking the completion of two years in power. But it was ironic that the Congress was celebrating at a time when people were reeling under crisis and Bengaluru was flooded. The celebratory event will go down as a black day. While people were suffering, the government was blowing its own trumpet,' he said. Mr. Ravi said there was nothing for the Congress to celebrate but for the completion of two years in power and cited statistics, which he said, presents a grim picture of the State. He said there have been 736 maternal deaths in government hospitals, over 1,200 neonatal deaths, and 3,000 farmer suicides. 'Besides, a few government employees had taken their lives leaving behind notes blaming the administration and hence one was left wondering as to what the celebrations was all about,' questioned Mr. Ravi. He accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of leading the 'most corrupt regime in the State's history,' stating that there was not a single department untouched by corruption. Dubbing it as a '60% commission government,' Mr. Ravi said the State was reeling under debt. Citing statistics to what he called rising debt burden, Mr. Ravi said that of the ₹7.6 lakh crore total State debt, over ₹4 lakh crore was accumulated under Mr. Siddaramaiah's leadership. 'In just one year, the State has availed of a loan of ₹1.15 lakh crore,' he added. The BJP leader took aim at the steep hike in taxes and rates across sectors and said electricity tariffs, vehicle registration costs, cess on petrol and diesel, milk prices, stamp duties—nothing had been spared. Dozens of essential items have been taxed- from milk to alcohol - even as the government claims to fulfil five guarantee schemes, he said. Mr. Ravi alleged that there was a law and order collapse in the State and flayed the government for withdrawing cases against those who had attacked police stations. He said there was not a single permanent project of importance resulting in job generation, that was launched by the Congress and described the government as one without energy or vision. Responding to questions about the Centre withholding Karnataka's tax share, Mr. Ravi countered, 'Between 2014 and 2024, the Modi government gave Karnataka four times more funds than Congress did from 2004 to 2014. The narrative that the Centre is depriving Karnataka is a lie told repeatedly in hopes it will be believed,' he added. Asserting that the BJP will take this 'chargesheet' to the people and raise it in the Assembly, Mr. Ravi said it was just the tip of the iceberg. The people of Karnataka are watching, and they will respond at the ballot, he added. MP for Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, city BJP president L. Nagendra, and others were present.

Congress plans ‘Guarantee Samavesha' in Karnataka to counter BJP's zero achievement jibe
BENGALURU: While the BJP is making allegations of 'zero achievement' against the state government which completed two years on Tuesday, the Congress government is gearing up to hold a 'Guarantee Samavesha' at the district level, where guarantee scheme beneficiaries will be invited. Through this, the government is trying to reach more people. After the Sadhana Samavesha at Hosapete on Tuesday, the Congress is planning to hold it at the district level, but this time with a stress on its guarantee schemes. Senior Congress leader and Chief Whip in the Upper House Saleem Ahmed, said they are planning mega events in each district to highlight their five guarantees. The dates have not been finalised. 'CM Siddaramaiah and KPCC chief DK Shivakumar will finalise the dates along with the format of the event,'' he said. According to Saleem, BJP members are accusing the Congress government of not taking up any development work. 'They keep alleging that the government has no achievements. Through these events, we will tell them and the people about what guarantees have done for the poor,'' he said. He also challenged the BJP to oppose these schemes. Saleem said that during these events, they plan to highlight the failures of the Centre. 'The Centre has failed to give grants due to the state government. We have two prominent ministers from Karnataka who are in PM Narendra Modi's cabinet, Nirmala Sitharaman and Pralhad Joshi. What have they done for the state? We will speak of this in front of the people,'' he added.
