These Louisiana cities are the safest: report
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Do you feel safe where you live? A new report identifies which cities in Louisiana are the safest for 2025. A report released by SafeWise named Addis in West Baton Rouge Parish as the safest city in the state for a second year. Harahan, Rayne, Patterson, and Covington followed behind as the safest. The City of Baker ranked number ten on the list. 'Violent crime experiences remain high across Louisiana, but some of the state's safest cities are showing encouraging signs of progress. Addis cut violent crime by 80% in one year, and four cities—including Harahan and Broussard—saw declines in both violent and property crime,' SafeWise Managing Editor and Safety Expert Rebecca Edwards said. Findings from a survey with Louisiana residents showed a decrease in worries about crime compared to last year's results. Daily safety concerns dropped from 69% to 56%, and gun violence concerns decreased from 72% to 66%. Survey results showed that 36% of people in the state feel safe, lower than the national average of 48%. According to the survey, residents are most concerned about violent crime, property crime, gun violence, and package theft. Results show people prefer to protect their homes with security cameras, firearms, and security systems. Residents also arm themselves with pocket knives, firearms, and pepper spray. 2 Tampa Bay cities ranked among the safest in the state
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — If you are looking to move to a safer city, you may want to check out two cities in Tampa Bay. SafeWise, a national crime and safety trends researcher, used FBI crime statistics data to rank cities in each state across the country. The research website looked at crime data from 33 Florida cities to determine the state's rankings. List: More than 100 JOANN stores set to close Monday Out of the top five safest cities in Florida, two of them are in Tampa Bay: Safety Harbor and Dunedin. Safety Harbor took the second spot on the list and Dunedin took the fourth. Neither city reported any murders, according to the report. SafeWise said Marco Island is the safest city in Florida for the second year in a row. Rincon in top 10 Georgia safest cities: SafeWise
RINCON, Ga. (WSAV) — Looking for a place to move? Rincon was listed as one of the 10 safest cities in Georgia for 2025, according to SafeWise. Rincon rose 19 positions from last year, earning a spot as the sixth safest city, SafeWise reported. Rincon also reportedly saw a decrease in both property crime and violent crime year over year. Richmond Hill broke into the top 20 safest cities, being ranked number 16. Port Wentworth was listed as number 20 for safest cities in Georgia. While some Coastal Empire cities made the top 20, SafeWise reported that crime in Georgia leans toward violent crimes over property crimes. Georgia reportedly had the highest level of gun violence experiences in the U.S. and the fifth highest level of violent crime experiences. The site also reported that Georgians aren't likely to experience property crimes other than package theft. SafeWise said they use crime rates as calculated from FBI crime data for their statistics.
