Crew member on fishing boat missing
Udupi: A crew member on a fishing boat, identified as Vayal Ravi, 21, has been missing since Sunday. In a complaint, Sahas, from Mangaluru and owner of the fishing boat Vishwanag, operating from the Mangaluru port, said that the boat employs around 10 workers. On May 20, at 12pm, the boat departed from Mangaluru port for a fishing expedition. On May 25 at 11.45am, the boat's skipper, Tirupati, called to inform that the boat encountered severe weather conditions at sea, causing operational issues. While attempting to return to the Gangolli port, the boat experienced engine trouble. After getting the engine fixed, the boat resumed its journey back to Gangolli. In the meantime, it is alleged that Ravi accidentally slipped and fell into the sea. Despite immediate efforts by fellow fishermen to search for him in the water, he could not be found. A case has been registered at Malpe police station.
