Three wardens suffer injuries after truck crashes into barricades & police van on Pune-Mumbai highway
Pune: Three wardens suffered injuries after a truck crashed into a police van and barricades, placed on the Pune-Mumbai highway in Nigdi to divert heavy vehicles for the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi procession, around 1.15am on Sunday. Warden Shivaji Shinde suffered injuries to his legs, Sahil Pawar's shoulder was injured, and Mohan Awchar suffered injuries to his hands and legs. The Dehu Road police arrested the truck driver on the charge of attempting to commit culpable homicide and rash driving. An officer from the Dehu Road police said the barricades were placed on the Pune-Mumbai highway in Nigdi on Saturday night to divert heavy vehicles. A police van was also parked near the barricades. "A truck heading towards Nigdi crashed into the barricades and then hit the police van around 1.15am on Sunday. The wardens standing near the van suffered injuries," the officer said. He said the police van was damaged in the accident. "The arrested driver is from Vaishali district in Bihar," he said.

Tempo truck rams into police jeep on Pune-Mumbai highway, 3 metro wardens injured, driver held
Three metro wardens were injured after a speeding Tempo truck rammed into a police vehicle near Hotel Pune Gate in Nigdi, on the old Pune-Mumbai highway, in the early hours of Sunday. The injured were identified as Lakshan Shivaji Shinde, Sahil Pawar and Mohan Gangadhan Awchar. The police jeep, fitted with a beacon light was also damaged in the incident. An FIR was lodged by Police Havaldar Narayan Kangude at the Nigdi police station. As per the press release issued on Monday, Kangude, attached to the Nigdi traffic division of Pimpri Chinchwad police, was deployed on duty near Hotel Pune Gate in Nigdi. Around 1.15 am, while he was diverting traffic of heavy vehicles in view of the Palkhi procession, a speeding tempo rammed into the barricades and a police jeep, which in turn struck three metro wardens on duty. Police arrested the tempo driver, identified as Roshan Roy (28) of Bihar. He was booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 281, 110, 324(3) and sections of the Motor Vehicle Act. Further investigation is underway, police said.
