Mid Wales hotel near Dolgellau named one of UK's best

A Mid Wales beer garden has been named one of the best in the UK. Big 7 Travel featured the George III Hotel in Penmaenpool, near Dolgellau, in its annual list of The Best Beer Gardens in the UK, coming in at number 23. The list features travel company's top 30 beer gardens from up and down the country. Summing up the hotel, they said: "Found on the shoreline of the Mawddach Estuary, the George III Hotel has one of the best beer gardens in Wales. OTHER NEWS: "Ideal for escaping from the bustling city centres and into the country, this pub, on the border of Snowdonia National Park, offers the best of both worlds from its quiet beer garden: mountain views to your left and lakeside views to your right. "It's along the popular Mawddach Trail, which is a favourite of cyclists and walkers, so where better to stop for a well-earned pint and some food than at the George III Hotel?" The hotel is one of only two Welsh pubs in the list with Sailors' Safety in Newport also making the running in 12th place. It was noted for its history, as well it's fantastic range of food and the view looking out over Pwllgwaelod Beach. Sunsets here are pretty spectacular, and the pub dials up the cosy-ometer with twinkling fairy lights when it gets dark. The top three in the list were the Lake View Garden Bar in the Lake District, that overlooks Windermere; The Treehouse in Alnwick; and Fortune of War in Brighton.
