YSRCP former social media in-charge Bhargav quizzed over posts on NDA
GUNTUR: YSRCP former social media in-charge Sajjala Bhargav Reddy appeared before Mangalagiri Rural Police on Wednesday in connection with a case involving obscene social media posts aimed at top NDA leaders. The interrogation lasted over 90 minutes at the rural police station. The case dates back to November 2024, when leaders of the ITDP filed a complaint alleging that Bhargav Reddy and fellow YSRCP leader Parvatham Sudhakar Reddy shared offensive content online targeting Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Minister Nara Lokesh, and Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna. Bhargav Reddy was asked more than 20 questions, but officials described his answers as vague and unsatisfactory. The inquiry is being conducted following High Court guidelines. Initial findings indicate that some of the objectionable posts were circulated using fake social media accounts, allegedly created under the direction of local YSRCP leaders and shared by party loyalists. Police have registered cases under Sections 509, 353, and other applicable provisions of the BNS. Bhargav Reddy had earlier approached the Supreme Court seeking anticipatory bail, but his plea was dismissed, allowing police to proceed with interrogation.

No SC relief for Bhargav in social media abuse case
Vijayawada: The on Friday declined to grant anticipatory bail to former YSRCP social media in-charge Sajjala Bhargav Reddy in the social media abuse case registered under the SC/ST Act. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The court said abusive posts on social media have reached intolerable levels, and granting anticipatory bail to the accused in such cases would send a wrong signal to other perpetrators. Bhargav Reddy's counsel argued that the case is politically motivated and is now registered over an offence alleged to have been committed in 2021, only after regime change in the state. A bench of Justices Pankaj Mithal and SVN Bhatti observed that politics is irrelevant as the discourse on social media has reached intolerable levels. "Do you think we do not understand what you posted on social media? Do you think we cannot understand the intention with which those posts were made? This cannot go unchecked, and the system will punish those who misuse it," said the bench. The SC further stated that anticipatory bail should not be granted easily in social media abuse cases. Declining to grant relief to Bhargav Reddy, the bench directed him to approach the trial court for relief and granted him interim protection from arrest for two weeks to approach the trial court.

Jagan Mohan Reddy files petition in Andhra Pradesh HC for Z+ category security
VIJAYAWADA: YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, former Chief Minister and YSRCP chief, filed a petition in the AP High Court on Thursday, questioning the inaction of the Centre and the State government on his plea to reinstate Z+ category security. He claimed that the failure to provide him adequate CRPF or NSG protection violated constitutional norms and requested an independent reassessment of his threat level to restore Z+ security. If unavailable, he sought approval to use his own bulletproof vehicle. Post-government change, his security was significantly curtailed without prior notice, disregarding ongoing risks. Accusing the State of shirking its responsibility to safeguard public figures, Jagan urged the court to mandate Z+ security restoration. The matter is set for a Friday hearing. Sajjala Bhargav Reddy & others get HC relief The AP High Court provided relief to Sajjala Bhargav Reddy, former YSRCP social media head, and other activists in a case over social media posts, questioning the police's use of BNSS Section 111 (organized crime). The court ruled that Section 111 requires a chargesheet from the past 10 years, which was not present, making the case legally untenable. It found the Section 111 charges against Bhargav Reddy and others unwarranted based on initial evidence, and instructed police to follow BNSS Section 35(3). Justice N Vijay issued these directives on Wednesday, calling for prompt government action.
