Community Initiatives in Al-Haymah Al-Dakhiliyah in Sana'a Governorate: Successful Models of Service Projects

Sana'a - Saba: Al-Haymah Al-Dakhiliyah District in Sana'a Governorate is witnessing a great movement in the field of community initiatives, to implement service and development projects that enhance the community role and support the efforts of the state and government in local development. Based on the directives of the revolutionary leadership, the Supreme Political Council, and the Government of Change and Construction, community initiatives contribute, through the implementation of projects, to alleviating the suffering of citizens resulting from the repercussions of aggression and siege, for ten years, especially in the areas of roads and water. Road projects are a priority for community initiatives, in light of the stumbling traffic and the difficulty of citizens' movement, due to the roughness of the roads, and the dangerous paths and steep slopes that some of them have, which cause traffic accidents that claim people's lives. In light of the growing awareness witnessed by the community of embodying the values of cooperation and solidarity and keeping pace with the project of the modern Yemeni state launched by the late President Saleh Al-Samad, under the slogan "A hand that protects... and a hand that builds", many roads are currently being paved, expanded and expanded in the Al-Haymah Al-Dakhiliyah Directorate in various districts, with the support and direct supervision of the Initiatives Department in the governorate, the leadership of the local council in the directorate and the development associations in the district. In the Al-Ahboub district, three initiatives are being implemented, through joint efforts between the community and relevant parties, under the supervision of the Development Association. These include stone paving works, widening and leveling curved and narrow paths, and building retaining walls and surface channels to drain water. The first initiative includes stone paving works on the Beit Yaris-Beit Al-Rimi road, implemented by the Western Sector Association, with the support of the General Administration of Initiatives. The Director of Initiatives, Eng. Mohammed Al-Nizari, explained that the initiative to implement the three-thousand-meter-long road aims to pave the rough parts of it, estimated at about 1,500 square meters, at a cost of 25 million riyals, 19 million of which are supported by the Initiatives Department, and the community participated with six million riyals, with the exclusivity of implementing leveling works for a number of road lanes, serving more than four thousand people. In the same isolation, a similar paving initiative is being implemented for the Al-Halila village road, with a length of 360 meters, with the support of the Central Interventions Unit with cement and diesel, and community efforts represented in providing and cutting stones and marking them, paving and construction work, and others. This is what the head of the community committee, Faisal Al-Halila, stated, indicating that paving the road will serve more than 1,300 people from the village. The third initiative includes paving the Al-Zila-Beit Al-Nash-Beit Al-Shaqaqi road, which awaits support from the Central Interventions Unit, with cement and diesel. According to the head of the community committee, Yahya Sharaf al-Din, the residents took the initiative to cut ten thousand stones, and they are continuing to cut more, but they are appealing to the relevant authorities to continue supporting the project, calling on the competent authorities to approve the appropriate quantities of cement and diesel to pave the road that benefits more than ten thousand people. The head of the Al-Ahboub Development Association, Munir Marit, stressed the importance of the road in terms of its touristic and geographical location, as it is linked to the Beit Al-Kabsh Waterfall Park, and includes a two-road intersection, one of which ends at the Bani Al-Nimri isolation outlet and the other leads to Bani Matar Directorate, in addition to the population density in the area. In Bani Al-Sayag district, an initiative is being implemented to pave and expand a rugged road on a steep mountain slope, which is the only passageway linking the village of Beit Yafi' to the districts of the district. The initiative is being implemented with the efforts of the community and the support of the Central Interventions Unit with cement and diesel. Hashem Al-Shami, head of the development association in Al-Azla, explained that the initiative includes paving rugged sections with a total distance of 620 meters, along with expansion works, leveling winding paths, and building retaining walls. He pointed out that the road initiative, which was launched from the womb of suffering, will benefit more than five thousand people, and will contribute to alleviating the hardship of travel for the population, and saving time and money, during transportation to and from the directorate and its administrative center. Also within the isolation, the people of Beit Ajal village are implementing a project to build seven classrooms with facilities, through a self-community initiative, benefiting 289 male and female students from the village. The people are looking forward to the help of the relevant authorities in the governorate to complete and furnish the school building. Bani Amr isolation is witnessing community road initiatives, as in the quarter of Naam, the rugged sections of the 600-meter-long Al-Shansuba pass are being paved out of the 2,000-meter pass. The head of the development association in the isolation, Muhammad Al-Qawqa'a, stated that the paving project and the complementary works that accompany it, such as retaining walls, surface channels, and others, will alleviate the suffering of more than 2,200 people, and facilitate the use of the pass, which in the past was impossible to cross without animals. In the Bani Mansour quarter, an initiative is being implemented to pave and expand the 200-meter-long road of Al-Tawila, Ubarin, and Harf Al-Jaw, benefiting approximately 700 people. Two initiatives are being implemented with the support of the Central Intervention Unit with cement and diesel, and community efforts represented in cutting and providing stones, and paving and construction works under the supervision of the Development Association in the isolation. The Director of Community Initiatives in the Governorate, Eng. Mohammed Al-Nazray, stressed that implementing community initiatives in the Al-Haymah Al-Dakhiliyah Directorate translates the directives of the revolutionary leadership, the Supreme Political Council and the government to mobilize society for voluntary work in development fields. He praised the programmes to support service and development projects implemented by the community within the framework of community initiatives, noting that the official side's contribution to supporting the initiatives comes within the framework of enhancing collaborative work between the government and the community. In turn, the Director of the Directorate, Kamal Al-Askari, appreciated the community's efforts in embodying the values of cooperation, praising the efforts of the governorate's leadership and the General Administration of Initiatives in caring for the directorate through efforts to alleviate the suffering of its people, especially in the field of roads and other fields. He commended the support and backing of paving, cutting and expansion initiatives, or full funding, led by the work of cutting, expanding and paving the six-thousand-metre-long Al-Ar Al-Jahrah road, benefiting more than 50,000 people, in addition to the maintenance of the public asphalt road, which is currently being implemented. Community initiatives remain effective and influential projects that enhance the state's efforts in local urban and rural development and contribute to improving the service situation of the population in general.
