When is Ohio's sales tax holiday? What items are eligible?
Ohio's sales tax holiday for 2025 will be Aug. 1-14, Gov. Mike DeWine announced on May 30. 'The timing of this year's sales tax holiday not only supports families preparing for back-to-school, but also provides relief on other important household needs,' DeWine said in a statement. During the holiday, shoppers will be able to make qualifying purchases both in-store and online without paying state sales tax. Almost all tangible personal property priced at $500 or less is tax-free. Here are some examples of items that will be tax-free: Electronics: Computers, televisions, and other gadgets Clothing: Any apparel items Books: All types, including novels and textbooks Home Goods: Furniture, kitchenware, and home decor Plants: Indoor and outdoor plants Sporting Goods: Equipment and apparel for sports Food and Beverages: Dine-in food, dietary supplements, and soft drinks Note: These are just examples. Many other items will also be exempt from sales tax during this period. Ohio's Sales Tax Holiday extended to 2 full weeks this year
(WKBN) – Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced the state's Sales Tax Holiday will run for two full weeks this year. Ohio's Sales Tax Holiday will be August 1-14. During that time period, shoppers will be able to make qualifying purchases both in-store and online without paying state sales tax. To see which items are eligible, visit the Ohio Department of Taxation's website. In 2024, the Sales Tax Holiday lasted ten days instead of the usual three days. Huntsville announces warming center openings ahead of cold weather this week
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The City of Huntsville has announced that warming shelters will be opening as temperatures look to get dangerously cold this week. With temperatures looking to drop into the teens overnight Wednesday and Thursday according to the National Weather Service, the city has announced several warming shelters will be open later this week. Alabama Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday February 21-23, 2025 Those warming centers are: Community Warming Center – The Livin' Room at 2820 Governors Drive SW: Open Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 4 p.m. to Friday, Feb. 21, at 9 a.m. You can contact Community Development at 256-427-5400 or email Rosie Veal-Eby, Church of the Nativity, at rvealeby@ for inquiries about the warming center. First Stop at 206 Stokes St.: Open overnight Wednesday and Thursday nights in addition to regular hours Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can call 256-533-3391 to contact them. Downtown Rescue Mission at 1400 Evangel Drive NW: Open 24/7, and their phone number is 256-536-2441. Salvation Army at 305 Seminole Drive SW: Open Monday-Sunday, 6 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. To contact the Salvation Army about the warming center, call 256-536-9147. The city said Huntsville Transit will provide free rides to and from warming centers. Transit runs Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Officials said Huntsville Police will also take people to the warming centers outside of Huntsville Transit hours.
