POLICE: Search for suspect continues after high-speed chase in Grand Saline, unclear if armed

GRAND SALINE, Texas (KETK) — A suspect is still at large after a high-speed motorcycle pursuit Thursday morning in Grand Saline. According to Grand Saline Police Department, around 1 a.m. officers were notified by the Mineola Police Department about a blue sports motorcycle heading west on U.S. Highway 80 towards Grand Saline at speeds of 122 mph. At around 1:10 a.m., officers located the bike entering city limits on U.S. Highway 80 near east city limits headed westbound at a speed of 120 mph. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the bike accelerated and continued westbound at speeds over 140 mph. After a short pursuit, the motorcycle turned back north on Main Street from U.S. 80 where officers lost sight of him. The officer remained in the area and located the motorcycle eastbound on U.S. 80 and attempted to initiate a traffic stop again but the motorcycle made a turn and headed back west at high rates of speed. The motorcycle then turned north on Main Street and the officer lost sight of him again. Elderly man confesses to sexually assaulting 2 children in 18-wheeler, Henderson County documents show 'The pursuit was then terminated due to the erratic driving behavior of the suspect and the safety of the general public,' Grand Saline PD said. Shortly after the pursuit, officers received a call of a motorcycle crashed just off the road on Main Street near Cate Street. The officer located the motorcycle and the helmet but the rider was not found. Around this time, residents in the area began reporting a male subject running through yard east of the crash scene. After a perimeter was established, a search was conducted for the subject using drones. The suspect continued to be spotted throughout the night and early morning with the last sighting being around 6 a.m. at the corner of Cate Street and Main Street. 'It is unknown at this time whether the suspect is armed or should be considered dangerous,' Grand Saline PD said. 'It is also unknown as to the exact reason the suspect evaded law enforcement.' Based off surveillance video in the neighborhood where the suspect fled, it appears he repeatedly took of clothing items. Photos of suspect, courtesy of Grand Saline Police Department The suspect is described as a slender white male possibly of Hispanic descent, around 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall, wearing white tennis shoes and possibly a white and dark in color shorts with a darker colored t-shirt. Grand Saline ISD was notified of the situation and has since been put on heightened alert. The district has taken the 'necessary precautions to ensure safety at our schools with an enhanced police presence.' 'I know the citizens are concerned, especially those in the neighborhood where the suspect was last seen. Please know that we have no reason to believe currently that there is need for panic or alarm. We ask that you just stay vigilant, lock your doors and if you see something, please say something. If anyone sees this individual please call 911 immediately or as always the Grand Saline Police Department can be reached at our non-emergency number of 903-962-3145. Do attempt to make contact with this suspect on your own, let law enforcement handle it. We are very close to identifying the suspect then rest assured swift and appropriate action will be taken at that time.' Arrest made after armed robbery at Saline Subway restaurant

An arrest has been made in Sunday's armed robbery of a Subway restaurant in Washtenaw County, Michigan, police report. John Fulton, age 59, had an arraignment hearing Monday afternoon at 14A District Court on the following charges: robbery-armed, assault with a dangerous weapon (felonious assault) and weapons-carrying concealed, according to the press release. Saline Police Department officers were called after a robbery happened about 2 p.m. that day at the Subway at 1010 E. Michigan Ave., Saline. The suspect, who was armed with a knife, had taken an undisclosed amount of cash and drove off in a black Chevrolet Equinox. Officers used surveillance video to get a photo of the suspect, and posted it on the police department's Facebook page in hopes of getting more information from the public. With the leads about his potential identity and whereabouts, officers from the Saline Police Department, with assistance from Milan Police Department, Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office and Pittsfield Township Police & Fire, located the suspect on Lewis Avenue in the nearby city of Milan. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail. The Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office then authorized the three felony charges. A probable cause conference is scheduled for March 6. "On behalf of the Saline Police Department, we thank our partnering police agencies and Washtenaw County Metro-Dispatch for their professionalism while assisting our agency during this incident," Saline Police Chief Marlene A. Radzik said in the department's press release.
