Vision Carthage mobilizes 100+ volunteers for cleanup effort
CARTHAGE, Mo. — Central Park had no shortage of volunteers in Carthage over the weekend.
Vision Carthage, a Missouri Main Street Organization, says over 100 volunteers banded together in Carthage to pick up trash, plant flowers, and participate in some general cleaning; an event done through the Vision Carthage Clean Team initiative.

Officials say the event attracted people from all walks of life, including families, students, and members of civic groups. Volunteers were divided amongst one another and sent to their postings, split across over a dozen site locations in and around Carthage.
Vision Carthage says the volunteers' efforts were a success, noting in just one hour, they had already filled 70 bags of trash. Other activities included adding fresh plants to the flower beds around town at places like Bright Futures, parking lot flowerbeds at 6th and Main, as well as the south roundabout.
'We had Boy Scouts, fifth graders, junior high, and National Honor Society students working right alongside older volunteers from the Masonic Lodge and Kiwanis group. The volunteers just kept coming and we're so thankful for everyone's help,' said Sally Stuart, Co-Director of Vision Carthage.
Officials say they hope to host another event ahead of the Maple Leaf Festival.
