Salt Lake City schools offer summer meal programs to children
SALT LAKE CITY () — Salt Lake City School District is offering free meals to all children under the age of 18 this summer.
Children from the ages of 0-18 can pick up lunch this summer from the Salt Lake City Library, several Salt Lake City parks, and multiple schools around the city. Elementary schools where summer school is in session are also serving free breakfast.
Funding for this program is provided by the federal government, and there are rules to participate. Children must be at the location in person to get a meal, and meals must be eaten at the site. However, children are allowed to take home one fruit or a side item.
Dietary needs can also be accommodated. The school district requests you contact the Child Nutrition Department at (801) 974-8380.
