Sydney Sweeney says her Euphoria character Cassie is set to get 'crazier'
opened up about the highly-anticipated upcoming third and final season of Euphoria this week. The actress, 27, plays the backstabbing Cassie in the high school drama. In an interview with Empire magazine, she said of her character: 'I have such a spot in my heart for Cassie, and I hold her really close and dear.' She continued, 'She is crazy. She makes so many mistakes. She's flawed on so many levels, but she does it all from a place of love. 'It could be a sad version of love, as well. It's so much fun to play a character that is as crazy as she is.' And Sydney said that in the next chapter of the show, Cassie will get 'crazier.' Speaking about the show's creator and director, Sam Levinson, she said: 'Sam is such a brilliant filmmaker to work with because I'll read something then I'll call him, and I'm like, "Let's go crazier", and he's like, "I'm all in". 'This season is unhinged.' Earlier this month, Zendaya was seen on the set of the HBO series in California as Rue. The actress appeared distressed for cameras as she left a convenience store in LA's South Gate. And in April, Sydney was seen shooting a scene with Alexa Demie.

She continued, 'She is crazy. She makes so many mistakes. She's flawed on so many levels, but she does it all from a place of love. It could be a sad version of love, as well. And he's like, 'I'm all in.' And this season is unhinged.' In mid May Zendaya was spotted on the California set of the HBO series, slipping back into her troubled character Rue. The 28-year-old actress appeared distressed for the cameras as she exited a convenience store in LA's South Gate. It came after her co-stars Sydney and Alexa Demie and were spotted filming a scene together in late April. Earlier this year it was announced that Sharon Stone was cast in season three. She joined a notable group of A-listers previously added to the show, including Spanish singer Rosalía, Super Bowl winner Marshawn Lynch, and A Different World star Kadeem Hardison. The prior two seasons of the HBO series from A24 starred Hunter Schafer, Maude Apatow, Jacob Elordi, the late Angus Cloud, Barbie Ferreira and Dominic Fike. Last fall Zendaya confirmed that the final season will see a time jump that ages the characters. In an interview with Empire magazine, the Anything But You star gushed about her character, 'I have such a spot in my heart for Cassie, and I hold her really close and dear;' Jacob Elordi is pictured with Sweeney on the left, and with Alexa Demie on the right She said on Entertainment Weekly's The Awardist podcast, 'It's important because there's only so much high school drama you can deal with.' 'I don't actually know much about what is happening,' she admitted, despite her role as an executive producer. 'I don't quite know exactly what the season is going to look like, but I do know that the time jump is happening.' The actress, who plays queer teenager Rue, a high schooler who struggles with drug addiction, sounded as excited as fans to learn what's in store for the young adults. 'It will be fascinating to see and understand these characters outside of the context of high school and how all the stuff that we saw when they were kids and they were in high school affects the adulthood they have and who they become in a much bigger world.'

Sydney Sweeney teases season three of Euphoria is 'unhinged'
Sydney Sweeney has teased that season three of 'Euphoria' is "unhinged" for her character Cassie. The 27-year-old actress has teased that her "flawed" alter ego goes "crazier" in the upcoming instalment of the hit HBO teen drama. She told Empire magazine: 'I have such a spot in my heart for Cassie, and I hold her really close and dear. 'She is crazy. She makes so many mistakes. She's flawed on so many levels, but she does it all from a place of love. It could be a sad version of love, as well. It's so much fun to play a character that is as crazy as she is. Sam [Levinson] is such a brilliant filmmaker to work with, because I'll read something, then I'll call him, and I'm like, 'Let's go crazier.' And he's like, 'I'm all in.' And this season is unhinged.' The second season saw Cassie get romantically involved with Maddie's (Alexa Demie) abusive ex-boyfriend Nate (Jacob Elordi). The eight-episode season will feature a time jump taking the lead characters out of high school and it is due to premiere in 2026, four years after the second season aired. Sydney, Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Eric Dane, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, and Colman Domingo will all be returning, but Algee Smith and Nika King won't be, while Dominic Fike's return has yet to be confirmed. New series regulars will include Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Toby Wallace, while a number of guest stars have also been lined up including Sharon Stone, Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch, and Kadeem Hardison. The cast and showrunner Sam Levinson kicked off shooting season three in Los Angeles earlier this year after a long delay. The series is expected to mark the end of the drama. Zendaya - who leads the cast as Rue Bennett - recently admitted she finds filming 'Euphoria' "emotionally and physically draining". Speaking to Nicole Kidman for Variety's Actors on Actors series, she said: "You get so used to a character. It feels like a skin that you just slip on. Rue just falls into me. I'm not thinking about it so much. It's just like, 'Oh, she's here now.' The 'Babygirl' star then asked: "Do you stagger out of that experience?" Zendaya replied: "Yes and no. While it was emotionally and physically draining, it was so rewarding. I was so proud of it. It connected with people... "We're supposed to do another season. I've only done two, but it feels like five. One season of 'Euphoria' is like, 'Phew!'... "I still have my Rue scars."
