Tyler Whataburger locations donating sales to fallen officer's memorial fund
TYLER, Texas (KETK) – DKT Investments will be donating profits from their three Whataburger locations in Tyler to the Sam Lively Memorial Fund on Monday. Tyler PD Officers gather to remember fallen officer Sam Lively was a Tyler Police Department officer who died in a motorcycle crash on April 26, while he was off duty. Monday's sales from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the following Whataburger locations will be donated to the fund in order to honor Lively and his family: 1739 S. Beckham Ave., 75701 1717 SSE Loop 323, 75701 4825 S. Broadway, 75703 Those sales will then be given to the Sam Lively Memorial Fund at Lindale's Southside Bank. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Off-duty Tyler police officer dies in motorcycle crash, department says
TYLER, Texas (KETK) — An off-duty Tyler police officer has died following a Friday evening motorcycle crash. According to a release from the Tyler Police Department, at 6 p.m. officers responded to a crash on Troup Highway, just north of Loop 323. A preliminary investigation indicates that Officer Sam Lively, who was riding a motorcycle, was traveling south on Troup Highway in the outside lane. Longview man gets life in prison after DNA connects him to 1992 child sexual assault Another vehicle, also heading south in the inside lane, attempted to change lanes near Loop 323 and struck the motorcycle, officials said. Lively was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to the police department. He was off duty at the time of the crash. Lively had recently graduated from the police academy and completed his field training. 'Officer Lively was an amazing young man who wanted to serve the Tyler community,' the department said in a statement. 'He will be missed by everyone that had the privilege of knowing him.
