Virat Kohli's dream fulfilled, Bengaluru erupts in Diwali-like celebrations as RCB finally lifts IPL trophy

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lifted their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy after a nail-biting six-run victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. It was a night in Bengaluru when the city's skyline lit up like Diwali as soon as the final ball confirmed RCB's historic win after an 18-year wait. From midnight parades on the streets to rooftop fireworks, Bengaluru transformed into a festival ground. Videos of residents bursting crackers, waving RCB flags, and chanting 'Ee Sala Cup Namde' flooded social media. Sharing a video, an X handle @AdityaRajKaul wrote, 'Bengaluru at this Midnight hour. Diwali came earlier in 2025!' Watch here: Bengaluru at this Midnight hour. Reflecting on his IPL journey, Kohli said, 'I have given this team my youth, prime, and experience. Tried to win it every season, gave it everything I can. Never thought this day would come, was overcome with emotion after we won.' The IPL 2025 final match began with PBKS' skipper Shreyas Iyer winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Kohli anchored RCB's innings with a 44 off 35 deliveries, helping the team secure a total of 190 for 6 in their 20 overs. This was RCB's fifth final after losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SH) in 2016.
