Social Affairs Minister reviews Post-Eid operations in Capital branch

Sana'a - Saba: Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Samir Baja'alah on Sunday visited Sana'a branch of the Social Affairs and Labor Office to assess workflow following the Eid al-Fitr holiday. During his visit, Minister Baja'alah met with branch manager Abdulrahman al-Arjali and staff, receiving updates on their activities and progress. He emphasized the importance of maintaining professional discipline, dedication, and service delivery to vulnerable populations, including displaced and affected individuals, within the framework of their assigned tasks. He highlighted the expansion of these tasks due to the ongoing integration of sectors under the "Government of Change and Construction." The Minister stressed the ministry's commitment to leveraging expertise in humanitarian affairs and social protection to strengthen support programs for vulnerable groups. He acknowledged the challenges posed by the US aggression against Yemen and the withdrawal of international humanitarian organizations due to external pressure. He stated that a crisis management team within the Ministry of Social Affairs is addressing these challenges. He asserted that Yemen, under the leadership of Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, would not be swayed. Branch manager al-Arjali provided an overview of the branch's activities and reported that approximately 140,000 displaced and aggression-affected individuals are registered in Sana'a. Baja'alah Stresses need for UNHCR to fulfill its Humanitarian Commitments in Yemen

Sana'a - SABA: Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Samir Baja'alah, emphasized the importance of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) fulfilling its humanitarian obligations in Yemen to address the needs of displaced communities. During his meeting today with UNHCR's representative in Yemen, Marin Dean, Baja'alah reaffirmed Yemen's firm rejection of any link between humanitarian work and political agendas. He highlighted the urgent need for assistance for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the most vulnerable populations. He noted that following the integration of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs into the ministry's responsibilities, Yemen expects UNHCR to extend its previous aid agreement to continue supporting those in need. In response, UNHCR's representative reaffirmed the agency's commitment to its responsibilities in Yemen. He stated that non-primary donor funds have been secured and can be directed toward the most vulnerable groups, as identified by the ministry. He acknowledged that global and regional developments have impacted UNHCR's financial situation, but affirmed the agency's readiness to collaborate with the ministry in coordinating humanitarian efforts and supporting IDPs and impoverished communities.
