Meeting chaired by minister Bajjalah approves recommendations on economic empowerment & social welfare
Sana'a - Saba: The Board of Directors of the Social Welfare Fund held a meeting on Sunday, chaired by the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor—and Head of the Board—Samir Bajjalah. The meeting reviewed the Fund's tasks, objectives, structure, components, branches, and past activities, as well as the repercussions of aggression and the blockade on its ability to continue supporting impoverished families, having previously targeted around 1.5 million cases. The discussion also addressed the Fund's current status, the volume of external funding disbursed between 2017 and 2024, and aspects related to the 2025 Social Support Program, including disbursement criteria and the preparation of beneficiary lists and data. During the meeting, the Minister of Social Affairs emphasized the Fund's crucial role in serving vulnerable groups. He noted that the new cycle of cash assistance for social welfare includes 500,000 cases, which will be disbursed to eligible recipients according to agreed-upon criteria once funding is secured. He further explained that the Ministry is working to establish an Empowerment and Response Bank in line with the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council. The bank will focus on urgent responses to societal needs and eligible beneficiaries. Minister Bajjalah stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among relevant entities and the Ministry of Social Affairs, as it oversees economic empowerment, social protection, and securing funding. He highlighted that the Ministry now possesses the necessary components for success, including qualified sectors, expertise, and personnel. He added that the Fund has the infrastructure, personnel, and expertise to efficiently manage cash assistance and economic empowerment projects, along with a comprehensive database of beneficiaries. The meeting included interventions on the importance of revitalizing the Social Welfare Fund's role, enhancing coordination with relevant entities, and mobilizing funding to implement economic empowerment projects for needy and impoverished families. The session concluded with several recommendations, emphasizing the need to allocate operational expenses to enable the Fund to fulfill its duties, implement activities, and achieve the objectives of the Social Welfare Law and the government program. It also stressed the importance of involving the Fund in economic empowerment projects. The recommendations urged providing support and securing funding for assistance programs to ensure the Fund can carry out its tasks effectively. The meeting underscored the necessity of approving a field verification mechanism for current beneficiary data and securing funding to update the poverty database in the Social Welfare Fund's records. Additionally, it emphasized approving the proposal submitted by the Fund's leadership regarding the new cash assistance project—the 2025 Social Support Program—and granting the Fund's leadership the authority to implement the project in partnership with the Social Fund for Development. Yemeni association for care & rehabilitation of blind celebrates marriage of 88 couples
Sana'a - Saba: The Yemeni Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Blind in Sana'a celebrated on Thursday the marriage of 88 couples in the eighth mass wedding for the blind, organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and funded by the Fund for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Disabled. During the ceremony, Sultan Al-Samai, a member of the Supreme Political Council, congratulated the newlyweds on completing half of their faith (an Islamic reference to marriage) and entering married life. He described the celebration as a unifying national event, bringing together participants from various Yemeni provinces. Al-Samai emphasized that Yemen will remain united and strong in facing challenges posed by enemies seeking to divide it. He expressed gratitude to the supporters and contributors who made the eighth mass wedding possible, highlighting how the participants proved that disability does not prevent individuals from achieving their aspirations and building family lives. Meanwhile, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Samir Bajjalah congratulated the couples on their marriage and completing half of their faith. He praised all attendees for joining the celebration of the blind couples in their eighth mass wedding and commended the care and support of the Revolution Leader, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badruddin Al-Houthi, in meeting the needs of vulnerable groups. Bajjalah also acknowledged the Fund for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Disabled for supporting the blind and organizing the mass wedding, which coincides with Yemen's celebrations of the 35th National Day of the Yemeni Republic (May 22). He called for facilitating marriage and reducing dowry costs to help young people build stable lives. The event was attended by leaders from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the Capital Secretariat, the Fund for the Care of the Disabled, and various associations. Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, head of the Social Affairs Committee in the Capital Secretariat and honorary president of the association, thanked the Fund and all contributors for organizing the mass wedding for a segment of society deserving of care and attention. He noted that the wedding, held under the slogan "You Are Not Alone – With Gaza Even in Our Joys," reflects the greatness of the Yemeni people in their unity, resilience in confronting aggression , challenges, and their commitment to the nation's causes, including supporting Gaza. For his part, Abdulaziz Balhaj, head of the Yemeni Association for the Care of the Blind, affirmed the association's commitment to continuing efforts to support the blind and ensure their rights to education, employment, and marriage. He thanked the sponsors, contributors, and organizing committees for their role in facilitating the eighth mass wedding and welcoming couples from across Yemen. The ceremony, attended by social leaders, relatives of the couples, and other guests, featured choral performances, traditional heritage segments, and the distribution of gifts provided by the Fund and sponsoring companies. Social Affairs Minister distributes "Bridal Bags" for 8th Group wedding of visually impaired
Sana'a – Saba: The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Samir Bajjalah, distributed on Tuesday bridal bags containing clothing and perfumes to visually impaired grooms participating in the eighth group wedding organized by the Yemeni Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Visually Impaired (Main Center) in Sana'a next Thursday. During the distribution, Minister Bajjalah congratulated the grooms on their blessed marriage, made possible with support from the Fund for the Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities. He noted that the group wedding, which includes 80 grooms and brides from across the republic, embodies Yemeni unity, as visually impaired couples from all provinces gathered in the capital, Sana'a—a city that always takes pride in hosting joyous and significant occasions in Yemen's history. He emphasized that the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, along with the government of construction and change, under the directives of the Revolution Leader, Sayyid Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and the President of the Supreme Political Council, Mahdi al-Mashat, prioritizes the care and empowerment of persons with disabilities in all aspects of life, ensuring their full human rights. For his part, Hamoud al-Naqeeb, Honorary President of the Yemeni Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Visually Impaired, expressed his happiness at the gathering of these grooms from various governorates, reflecting national unity, and congratulated them on completing half of their faith (through marriage). Meanwhile, Abdulaziz Balhaj, President of the Association, welcomed the grooms from all provinces and the distinguished attendees, explaining that this initiative, adopted by the association for eight years, falls within its programs to assist visually impaired individuals who have completed university education in getting married. Balhaj called on all organizations, capable individuals, and philanthropists to contribute to supporting such humanitarian initiatives, given their positive impact , social role in bringing smiles and happiness to this segment of society.
