Creme celebrates Earth Day, promotes local businesses
DES MOINES, Iowa –Crème, a cupcake bakery off of Ingersoll Avenue, held an Earth Day Celebration Event Sunday afternoon.
At the event, local vendors set up shop and showcased vintage clothing selections, hemp products, and live painting. Sammy Mila, the Owner of Crème, said she was happy to hold an event that brings together the community.

'Crème and community both start with C and so those are two things that are very near and dear to me. So I'm very big on just bringing people together, usually over food that's kind of my preference. And today it's over that in honor of Earth Day. So being able to support that community, support ourselves and then support our local vendors too, is checks all the boxes in my house,' Mila said.
Crème has a regular selection of cakes, breads, rolls, and cookies, but they wanted to mix it up for the event. They mixed two of people's favorite things for this sweet and savory treat.
'I always tell the team that we can't have flexibility without structure. So on our day-to-day, we do the cookies, the cake, the cupcakes,' said Mila. 'When we have special events like this, it gives us the opportunity to get creative, kind of blurs the line between sweet and savory. So as you mentioned earlier, the pizza cupcakes are blurring the lines of, like the milk bread we use for our cinnamon rolls.'
